Manchester has everything you could want as far as entertainment and shopping goes. There are theatres, restaurants nightclubs and there are lots of interesting Victorian architecture, also art galleries and exhibitions abound.
The Imperial War Museum and the Lowry Centre at Salford Quays. The quays themselves are interesting waterways with cafes bars etc.
There are also quite a few hidden attractions. The Hidden Gem is one of them. It is a tiny church, (I think it is Roman Catholic.)
There is the public library at St Peter's Square and the little known John Rylands Library, on Deansgate.
Not forgetting Manchester has it's own football teams, Manchester City , their ground is Eastlands which is a new stadium, specially built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
And Manchester United, at Old Trafford.
There is also Bridgewater Hall, for excellent music.
I have listed some links to give you a flavour of what Manchester is about.
Enjoy. Wyla. xx |

It depends on what sort of things you are interested in.
On Oxford Road you can go to the Whitworth Art Gallery, take a look at the Cathedral and go to the musuem in the University. While you're there, grab a coffee in the Big Hands bar - really is a good little place.
If you're anywhere near Picadilly Gardens then go to Afflecks Palace, it's like an alternative shopping centre - it's fantastic.
Get on a tram - this is an interesting thing in itself as not every city has one. If you've gotten the train to Manchester then your ticket is valid on inner city zones on the tram. Get off at the GMex stop and walk down to the musuem of Science and Industry or use the free bus from the train station to get there. Near the museum is Castlefield, a little pricey but nice to sit by the canal and have a coffee.
The Comedy Store is at Deansgate, this is a great night out. Every other Sunday night it's free, so check out their website for details.
There is a lot of lovely arcitecture in Manchester - check out the town hall it's amazing.
I hope this helps but if you want any more info, message me! |

I take it this one isn't directed at Manchester United fans as they wouldn't be able to tell you having never set foot in the city. |

The Lowry is good - you can go to the theatre, have a meal in the very nice restaurant, or go to the Lowry exhibition to see his paintings. Opposite is a shopping centre. |

loads of great things to see in Manchester but set your agenda before you get there. Everyone thinks Manchester is huge - it isn't at all - just a little more spread out than other cities. Great place to visit for sure but plan your trip and do it in 2-3 days - you'll have a great time. |
