Come down here to Cornwall. It is lovely at any time of year, and in the winter it is usually about 3 degrees warmer than London, though at the moment it is pretty darned cold (frost at night, which is unusual).
If you want somewhere nice to stay I would recommend the Brend group of hotels - see www.devonandcornwallbreaks.co.uk. Most of the hotels are doing cheap deals in the winter, though whether these will apply over the Christmas period is doubtful. Wherever you decide on eventually do check the experiences of previous visitors on www.tripadvisor.com. |

You could stay in B&B in Brockenhurst in the new forest
or you could stay in the Cotswolds
or you could go to the lake District
or you could hire a cottage in the country - http://www.holidaycottages.co.uk/?_$ja=kw:country+cottages+online|cgn:Country+Cottages|cgid:5944614919|tsid:6788|cn:Rural|cid:404954531|lid:73199451531|mt:%7bOVMTC%7d|bku:1 |

The Lake District is the best.Book in a little village inn with roring log fires at night.During the day,go for a walk along a lake side or just drive around and stop and stare when you want to.The mist on the mountains is spectacular and romantic. And after a meal and a bottle of wine in that quaint of inn, snuggle up for the night and relax and unwind |

If you can drive then definitely the Lake District. It has some of the best scenery in the U.K. but ONLY if you can drive. Public transport is very unreliable and only takes you to the outskirts of the best places. |

The lake district is what comes to mind. It's one of the most beautiful places in England, without a doubt!
If you're looking for something a bit less nature-ish, you could always go to London. Staying there is a great experience; there is so much to do! |
