Norfolk and Suffolk are nice if you get the quiet bits, great scenery and places to walk. this website might be useful, there's lots of places on there

If you want to escape the crowds and have great scenery, try one of the Scottish islands. I would recommend Mull.

The fact it's an island gives you the feeling that you're really getting away from it all.

chester is really good, nice restuarnats shopping extra, agree with the other person though uk, can be expensive, why not look for easy jet flights and go to spain??? we went to madrid, the flights cost us about £65 return and the hotel about £20 a night! it was hot and a great little break! if not abroad, why not devon, then if the weather is good then at least you can hit the beach! we stay at ruda caravan park, in croyde, it is fantastic and works out cheaper than b+b as you can please yourslef with food/drinks have fun whatever you do! xxxx

Well, if you don't really have to go to Cornwall, then how about The Lake District?

www.bayhouselakeview.co.uk,

this is right in Wndermere, overlooking the Lake itself, but withing walking distance of the bars and restauants etc...its simple, but lovely and cosy!!

I'm going to reccomend Glastonbury. People only ever talk about the festival which actually isn't even in Glastonbury. I can't reccomend any hotels or b&b's. When we need to recharge our batteries and escape we pack up our tent and off we go. I can reccomend an absolutely brilliant camp site. It is called The Old Oaks. They have their own web site. It is a working farm. It only takes adults and it is acutally on the side of the Tor. It is the most relaxing place we have ever been. It is also the cleanest site we have ever been to and we have been to loads. There is plenty to do if you want but the whole atmosphere in Glastonbury is so laid back. One of my most treasured romantic memories is climbing with my husband to the top of the Tor and laying on the ground under the stars with a bottle of local pear wine. The rest of that memory is private.

The Royal Hotel, Simmonds Yat, Ross On Wye, Wales.
Beautiful, romantic scenery, completely unlike anywhere else. You almost feel like a foreigner in the UK.
Also, The Swan, Hay on Wye. It's an antique village, full of old bookshops. So beautiful, and almost gothic.
Neither are expensive, but both are so picturesque, you can have your own romantic adventure.
Have fun!
