You could try ingoldmells its got fantasy island great for the kids, And loads of entrainment at night on the caravan parks.Good shopping good beaches and skegness not far away.
Then there is gt yarmouth if you like horse racing and greyhound racing or stock cars, Plus all the fun of above at hand.And if you like scenery then its Cornwall for you great fresh air good walks along the coast and the nice people of kernow.You now choose and enjoy.

Cornwall is favoured but that does mean the roads can be awful in peak holiday season. Try and time your journey accordingly.

I live in Brighton and its a great place to be in the summertime.
I lived in Eastbourne and that's OK to.
I personally thing Scarborough is a good place to go and the surrounding scenery takes a lot of beating.
The only thing i will say is Britain is very expensive - why not try The Gambia, West Africa. For Â£350 each you can have a great holiday , people are always smiling and so polite and its better value than UK.

BRIGHTON. It is very different to the rest of the country, and is definitely a pretty unique place to visit. You still get all of the traditional British seaside jollity here; but you also have a friendly, accessible world city.

It's very cosmopolitan, vibrant, colourful, quirky and eccentric. The city has a memorable personality, an arty 'continental' buzz, and diverse attractions, giving it the label of 'British San Francisco.' (with a bit of Rome, Paris or Barcelona thrown in for good measure)

It also has prolific nightlife (in proportion to its population, the nightlife is as good as London, Manchester or Newcastle) excellent shopping opportunities (including over 700 independent shops as well as all the familiar chain stores) and has a liberal, tolerant and friendly atmosphere.

This is a one-of-a-kind city. An outpost of energy, style and British eccentricity on the south-east coast, with excellent transport links to London. There is always something going on down there, and the best times to visit are in May (during the lively Brighton festival) and also over the summer, right up until about mid-October. You can count on good weather and all sorts of entertainments.

It's very famous (immortalised in film, novel and popular culture) so just type the word into any good search engine and find out more; but do come along and try it for yourself...there is something for everyone.

Skegness is great, it's cheap and cheerful, has one of the cleanest beaches in the UK and is easy to get to from anywhere. My kids are 10 & 9 and they love it there!

Definitely Cornwall. It's not overly crowded and has some of the most stunning beach views in all of the UK. I would recommend basing yourself in the town of Newquay. This area provides the most places where you can actually get down to the water and enjoy beaches. It's also a big surfing town so you can participate or watch others try. From Newquay you can explore the quaint city of Truro with it's beautiful cathedral, the fishing village of Penzance, the castle at Mt. St. Michael's and Land's End. The magnificent Eden project is accessible as well! All of these sites can be reached by the area's excellent bus system or by car. Newquay has several entertainment arcades, some great restaurants and a thriving night life. Cornwall has something to offer for everyone whether you're traveling alone, looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation.

Without doubt Devon & Cornwall
on the south coast you have the sun sea and sand.

One hours drive away

Cn the north coast you some some of the best scenery in the world.
Come inland for accomadation as it is cheaper then by the sea.

i don't mean to be biased or anything but being a codhead i would say that Whitby is the best sea-side resort in the UK
it came something like 2ND in a newspaper poll about the best sea-side resort (only Brigthon beat it)
we have detailed local history, like just 2 miles out of Whitby was where the 1st Nazi war machine was shot down
although its a very small place it has massive amounts of atmosphere, with regatta, goth week, folk week, etc.
it is the only place in the UK to visit
also don't forget the location, if you get bored of the beaches the North Yorkshire Moors are just out of town, York is 50 mins away and Flamingo land is only 1/2 an hour away as well.

I've lived and worked in Newquay for 18 years and wouldn't recommend it to anybody in summer! Bl**dy nightmare! I personally would head for the east coast, either Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK, for it's miles of lonely, beautiful beaches and proximity to more famous tourist attractions like the Broads or Gt Yarmouth, or the north Norfolk coast - Wells Hunstanton Cromer etc - lovely!
