I recommend Turnpike Lane or perhaps Manor House. Not incredibly posh, but less rough than e.g. Tottenham, some bits of Hackney, Finsbury Park, and cheap. The best combination of safe and centrally located that you can get for the money.

London and cheap are two words not associated. Come to think of it cheap and safe? sorry.....

I would suggest Borehamwood as a pretty good area. Although to be honest with you anywhere outside of the main london area is probably good. Try places at the end of the underground lines. If you can't do that and have to be inside Greater London well you are going to have trouble finding anything cheap.

Hope when you do find a place you like, it lives up to your expectations and is a happy and healthy home. Good luck with your move.

if you just need the cheapest place, you might have to go live in zone 6, where's no tube or train around. so you have to be more describe like which area, zone you wanna live in.

I have to agree that you need to provide a little more information as to what area you are considering--N-E-S-or W of Central London-- There are some nice little areas. And yes--Cheap & London is definitely an oxymoron!

Statistically, the Harrow area is one of the safest areas in London. However, I can assure you there are some areas in Harrow that are pretty rough!

The thing about London is that good areas will often not be far from less good areas. It's a patchwork quilt like this across most of the city.

Even moving on the outskirts of the city is no guarantee of being safer. It just depends on the local area!

You might be better asking what's the best place you can get in London for your budget.

Cheap place my friend is further away from central, as for cheap nothing in London is cheap, for a lot of money in other cities in the UK you get peanuts for it in London

Try 10 Downing Street. The area could be a bit expensive than you may think
but it would be worthwhile as you may see some VIP around :-'

Buckingham Palace free for the present tenants and well guarded

Buck House - just watch out for the corgis :-)

I don't think there is a cheap AND safe area of London to live in. There are some nice areas around Uxbridge near Brunel University which isn't exactly in London but you can be in town in a few minutes.
I think the word "cheap" in the same sentence as "London" is a joke anyway.
