Primrose Hill - for the views

I think it's called (aptly) Green Park. It's not too far from Picadilly and is really family friendly. Also near Kensington Palace there is a park that rocks. You're very close to Notting Hill

Hampstead Heath is pretty good for a picnic. It is spacious and has wooded areas as well as open fields.

You can also get good views of London from there.

Hi, Here's what I always pass along!
Wow...you're in for a treat!
London has many beautiful parks which can be your oasis when needing a rest. Kensington Gardens in one of the world's wealthiest areas - See Princess Di's Kensington Palace and shop Kensington High St. and wander up Church St. for boutiques and such. Nearby: Royal Albert Hall, Science Museum, Natural History Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum. Hyde Park connects to Kensington Gardens. Explore Chelsea for boutiques as well. St. James Park - beautiful, sole restaurant inside. Green Park - high tea at the Ritz, Fortnum & Mason, Picadilly Circus (think Times Square). Hope this helps. Have a fantastic time! :)

There are loads of brilliant parks - I am arranging a picnic for my family and am thinking of having it in Regents Park. The best web site I've found is below as it tells you what's available at each main park in central London. Most of the parks have benches and wide lawns. On a hot day you'll find everyone picnicing, including the office workers.

Hyde Park. It's the nicest part of London. You can paddle, eat ice-cream, skate... leave the kids with the other half and wander off to the shops...
