Scotland. They seem to have all the advantages there these days.

why would you want to move here?

but if you have the money, then somewhere out in the countryside would be nice, maybe the lake district or yorkshire.

and ignore all the londoners on here... the place is a shithole.

If I had the chance, I would move to the Isle of Wight. Not far to nip across to London to get the shopping fix, but a slower pace of life, beautiful beaches

Depends what you are looking to do - do you need employment? are you studying? Are you into outdoor activities?
Generally the further North you go the cheaper the cost of living - London may be popular but it is really expensive - and with internal travel costs being so cheap it easy enough to spend a long weekend there to see the sights.

Move to where you think you can get a job! It's expensive to live in the UK so you need to fund it somehow. Obviously London as the capital has the most opportunity and it's a great place to live for culture and things to do.

Other places I'd like to live are:
Brighton - it's by the sea and is really interesting.
Oxford - pretty and historical
Edinburgh - my favourite city in the UK. A beautiful city, plenty to do, lovely people. Shame about the weather! :)

Personally I would say Sussex or Kent, Sussex has many advantages where I live in Eastbourne I can be on the south downs, a range of hills that stretch across Sussex and Kent, in about ten minutes. On the beach or in a country pub, castle/museum, village, forest or down town shopping all in about the same amount of time. East Sussex has some of the most lovely unspoilt countryside in the whole country on a par nearly with Yorkshire. The only downside is that property is a bit expensive especially in very rural locations.
Kent is also very lovely that's why it's called the garden of England, the main features are the medway river, the downs, many small breweries and oust houses, castles/museum especially the heritage dockyard at Chatham where my grandad was a dockyard officer. There is the recently opened Dickens museums at Chatham also.
Wherever you move to in the UK be careful to do your research fully as there are some really bad areas and some places where strangers aren't as welcome.
At the bottom are a few links for Sussex and Kent
I hope you find the right place wherever that maybe

I agree with Saurasmile - I think Edinburgh is the best city in the UK - but it can be expensive.
Also consider Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle.

If you want beauty, tranquillity, good food, nice people, clean air and the best beaches in Britain head to Cornwall or Devon.

If on the otherhand you want noise, pollution, arrogant people, fast food chains, dog s**t, bad drivers, rude bus drivers and expensive living head to London.

Other nice places are The Yokshire Dales and The Lake District

Like most are saying, it depends on what you're looking for. I lived in Glasgow, Scotland, and I'd recommend it. It's the largest city in Scotland with about half a million people. It's got a fantastic art and culture scene (including 20 free museums), something like 60 parks, it's a hub of transportation for the entire country (and has it's own good transportation system within the city), and it's got a lot of history, too. If you're into clubbing and pubbing, it is THE place to go in Scotland.
According to my Scottish friends, don't live in Edinburgh! It's a sell-out city that caters to tourists. The real Scots live in Glasgow! Just speaking from experience, you'll never see tourist traps in Glasgow nor groups of tourists blocking up the sidewalks or pausing in the middle of the road.
While I was there, it really felt like a city you could live in. You can walk most places, there's lots of unique restaurants and things to see, and it's got a great, lower-key atmosphere all-around.
Weather-wise, Glasgow was cool and drizzly the entire time I was there (Jan-May). It got dark at 4pm in January, but didn't get dark until 1030pm by May.

Good luck!

i would move to Yorkshire as the people over here are really friendly and down to earth. Also there are some lovely places to live in the countryside, its not all flat caps and ferrets.
Also it's pretty cheap over here
