Where should I take my Wife?

Its my wife's 30th birthday so I want to take her away for the weekend (19th April). I'd like to go somewhere interesting/romantic and I would like it to be in the southern half of the UK otherwise we will spend most of the weekend travelling.

three suggestions:

***Bournemouth - seaside, Russell Cotes Museum, and the NT's Kingston Lacy close by

***Winchester / Salisbury / Stonhenge - nice places to visit

***Brighton - seaside, Royal Pavillion, the NT's Nymans and Sheffield Park close by

We stayed at a lovely place once, Blackmore Farm in Somerset - and I believe they have a room with a four poster bed - lovely area of the country but you'd need a car to get around

hi,i couldnt recomend a particular place but if you are heading south have you ever considered spending an evening in calais? the eurotunnel costs as little as £40 return including your car as long as you return the same day.and pre book early.
i often nip over for a day trip, the dolphin resturant in calais harbour is really nice.

Brighton has some great places to see, with some real good restaurants (try the sushi bar) also lots of little shops in the "Lanes"

If you are willing to spend £10 or so, get Wishcraft to sort it all for you - they are really good. It is so much hassle trying to do it yourself

take her to Paris skinflint

The Dog Inn & Cottages, Old Sodbury, Chipping Sodbury, Glouc.
Beautiful old pub set in a romantic setting.
Plus its a great name and its not made up!!!

How about hopping over to Jersey - still in the UK but gives you that little bit of 'French' appeal. Lots of places of interest, gorgeous beaches and a very pretty island. One drawback - a little expensive once you have paid for flights etc.

doesnt matter where you go, you dont have to go far, just take her away, spoil her rotten, do the cold night walks along empty streets, candles round the bath, be soppy and just enjoy each others company

A great place to go would be Torquay? Paington in S.Devon.

Or just take her in the country side for a quite meal for two/

I <3 My boo
just make it somthing that u know she will enjoy

Cornwall,
Cotswolds,
South Downs,

Don't go to Paris like some say on here, leave that for another time, it is so hectic, and fast moving , better somewhere in the English countryside much more Romantic.

'Er indoors!!
Whats Anne's problem with Cornwall??? Some peoples idea of romance ?? Torquay??
I look after a gorgeous little cottage in Polruan, Cornwall, a tiny village that looks like it has fallen out of the pages of a Dickens book. There are 2 lovely 17th Century pubs, and GORGEOUS views from the windows, over the Fowey estuary. A trip across the estuary on the little ferry takes you into the little town of Fowey, for more pubs, shops, restaurants, and stunning views, and walks. Romantic coastal walks, and an evening by an open coal fire with a glass of wine. What more could she wish for?

Put your hand into your back pocket and pull out that big fat wallet of yours and purchase two corporate tickets for the Pompey v Wigan match at Fratton Park. Then book into the Holiday Inn at Gunwharf. Get a crate of beer and watch the footie hi-lights on SKY/BBC1.....yes they have Sky in the Holiday Inn!
What a brilliant w/e; she'll love it........

Dont really know england that well. Places I would say were romantic are the obvious Paris but also Scotland and Ireland are beautiful places to visit I am sure you would also find the very interesting. Hope you have a wonderful time where ever you go.
