Where should we go for a weekend away?

My boyfriend and me are hoping to go away next Friday (10th October) for two nights but have no idea where to go. We don't have a very big budget so I think staying in the UK is the only option... unless there are any bargain flights anywhere!
We don't mind how far we go or where - we love York but have been there a few times and are thinking of going somewhere similar.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Amy

Thanks everyone - I also love Chester but I live about ten minutes away so it wouldn't really be a weekend away from home! It is along the right lines though of where we'd like to go!

I went to a small town in Devon call Beer. It was the perfect weekend getaway. Cheap, friendly and set in one of the most beautiful countrysides in the UK.

Bath - similiar in style to York.

If I lived in the UK, I'd go to Ghent, Belgium for a weekend away. Very peaceful, good restaurants.

Paris by Eurostar 2.5 hours each way.

Tour Eiffel - Paris - there is nowhere on Earth so romantic as this city.

There are lots of cheap hotels, especially in Montemarte.

When you arrive in Paris at the Gare du Nord Paris, you are only a walk away from Montmarte.

Flying is a dead art. See the Eurostar at 186mph - when you leave St. Pancras, you will be on the Pays de Calais Eurostar raceway within 1 hour - thundering towards Paris.

im from edinburgh and its a great city. loads to do. quite pricey but theres cheap travel lodges.

blackpool is really good fun and very cheap. its a bit of a dump but has lots of fun things to do if u want a lively weekend away.

dorset is beautiful. there is a really nice part called west bay which is a beach resort with pubs, restaurants etc. its not far from the town bridport either where there is shops, nightclub, bars, restaurants, cinema etc

elsie
don't come back to York- i live here and we have enough tourists already! lol. Maybe Chester, Bath or Cheltenham? or maybe the cotswolds. Chester or Bath are quite similar to York.

Before my last girlfriend revealed herself to be a typical money-grabber, we spent a nice simple weekend in the countryside - we went camping in Devon.

It really was great, just a peaceful weekend, at one with nature, enjoying each others company.

It was all downhill from there.

Often, simple trips away are amazing, as they take you away (albeit temporarily) from the nonsense of life.

Cornwall is really lovely, even in autumn and winter. You could get a cheap flight to Newquay or else drive down. Wherever you decide, good B&B accommodation should cost you about £30-£35 a night. Look up www.bedandbreakfastnationwide.co.uk or www.farmstay.co.uk for a really good, clean and friendly place to stay. I hope you have a nice break, wherever you choose to go.

Chester or Manchester London is great but a bit pricey.

Try a weekend B&B or camping in the Brecon Beacons. Not too far to travel.

It is a great area, fantastic scenery, lovely pubs, and great food, plenty of places to stay for B&B and to camp.

Have a look at my web site to see the area: -

I love London...there is this really beautiful place there called the roofgarden:

www.roofgardens.com

It's stunning and not pricey at all, and then we just stay in a travelodge, which is cheap and cheerful and does the job, we don't spend money, we go sightseeing to hyde park and covent garden, oxford circus, lecester square, downing street, houses of parliment, etc...national express do coaches there from £5 per person one way!

Go to Cleethorpes. It's near Grimsby, so everyone automatically goes there and ignores Cleethorpes, but it's really nice this time of year. A wonderful, quiet seaside town.

you should go bowling, paint stuff, go to a movie, adopt a dog, and lots of other stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
