What about all the wonderful free museums? They often have hands on exhibits, to satisfy your creative urges! There are also the art galleries of course, some free some not.

A lot of the street markets are open on Sundays and they are fun. Try Camden, Covent Garden or Smithfields. Also there's a flower market that takes place only on Sundays. If you enjoy plants and flowers it's fun even if you can't buy any to take home. If it's a nice day you can go to Hyde Park, Kennsington Gardens or Holland Park for a nice walk. Also Kew Gardens is very nice though you have to pay to get in there.
It the weather is bad you might try one of the museums. Many of them are free. Try the British Musuem or the Victoria and Albert. Also, a ride on the London Eye is nice--better in nice weather but okay even in the rain.

Try one of the markets...Camden, Greenwich Covent Garden (but make sure you keep your belongings safe...lots of pick pockets).

Then why not go to one of our great churches to experience the fabulous choral worship which is pretty unique in the UK. Obvious choices are St Paul's Cathedral ( this is near to Tate Modern which is worth going in just to experience the amazing space of the old turbine hall) or Westminster Abbey (this has the bonus of being near parliament and the Thames) but there are dozens of other fantastic old churches especially in the city and East End.

Just thought I'd try to be original!

Hope you enjoy your day

Beautiful London, city that I love the most. If only I was there on a sunny Sunday, I would...
Take a walk along the Thames. Many beautiful sights there. Or stroll around Regent's Park. Or go to Camden lock and walk along the canal. It is so nice, and at night there are pretty lights under the bridges.
Of course, Hampstead Heath is the best, and has a lovely place to eat at Kenwood House.
I would be happy doing anything, as long as I was in London!

Get on an open top bus, but maybe sit downstairs if it is raining! and enjoy all the sights of London. Go to the right company and they throw in a free river trip too.

Columbia Road Flower Market east of the City happens every Sunday morning: Plants , Flowers and arts and crafts. Nearby is also Brick Lane Market .
Over the bank holiday weekend there is a Beltane Parade on the Sunday morning in Central London. Lots of Green Men, Celtic drumming, Etc. From Conway Hall in Red Lion Sq. quintessentially British!

I'll repeat, a day like today is made for a stroll and a picnic on Hampstead Heath.

?
Everyone seems to do this, ask a question like this one without decribing themselves. Advice on where to go depends on type of person you are, are you married?, are you a puff? do you like historical sightseeing? would you rather have a drink?
