Arthur's Seat, is right in the centre of Edinburgh, near to Pollock Halls student residence. A lovely view of the city from up there.
You could take a picnic too!! Strawberries and Champagne, how romantic would that be.♥♥♥

Go to Edinburgh Castle and go into St Margarets Chapel to propose. A tiny chapel, built on the summit of the castle rock in the early twelfth century, is dedicated to Queen Margaret memory and is the oldest building in Edinburgh Castle
It's a romantic quiet place with, outside, a nice view over the Edinburgh and Firth of Forth.
Good Luck. |

the top of carlton hill, at night looking over the fllod lit city, absolutely stunning! and can take the car to the top. the top of sir walters scotts monument nice but can get busy! top of arthurs seat but you need to be fit to get to the top, will take approx 20mins, but of all the places in the world to do it, you have chosen the best.
good luck! |

My first choice would be St Margaret's Chapel which is tiny but lovely and stands high above Edinburgh in the Edinburgh Castle grounds. There is an atmosphere which is beyond description, perfect for declaring undying love.
If you want panorama then Arthur's Seat on a sunny day but avoid rain and wind at all cost. |

I agree with Arthur's Seat, although you'll have to do a bit of hiking and climbing... can't drive to the top of that! But the views are gorgeous and it'd definitely be memorable. |

Definately Arthur's Seat.
Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 251 m (823 feet), provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is quite easy to climb, and is a popular walk. Though it can be climbed from almost any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the East, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch.
Or if not feeling energetic, Calton Hill
Calton Hill is one of Edinburgh's main hills, set right in the city centre. It is unmistakable with its Athenian acropolis poking above the skyline.
The acropolis is in fact an unfinished monument - originally called the "National Monument". Initiated in 1816, a year after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, it was meant to be a replica of the Parthenon in Athens, as a memorial to those who had died in the Napoleonic Wars.
Building began in 1822, but funds ran dry and celebrated Edinburgh architect William Playfair only got to see a facade of his building completed. It was dubbed "Edinburgh's shame" at the time (and some still say a reflection of the Edinburgh temperament - make your own conclusions), but it's now a popular landmark and it's a lot of fun crawling up and down its giant steps. Plans since to complete the building never really get much support.
The top of Calton hill is an excellent and usually quiet place to come on any day, with its grassy slopes and panoramic views of the city, including down the length of Princes street (the main shopping thoroughfare) and Edinburgh castle. There is a good view North of the ruddy-coloured cliffs of Salisbury Crags and the undulating slopes of Holyrood Park.
Calton Hill is easily accessed. It takes about five minutes to get to the top of the hill from a steepish staircase at Waterloo Place, or you can drive up and park. There is a path right round the edge of the hill and there is an jumble of historic buildings and structures on top including, for star gazers, an observatory. In fact, there are two observatories on Calton Hill: the Old Observatory, designed by New Town architect James Craig in 1792; and the City Observatory, built in 1818, which has exhibitions and viewings of the night sky. |

Arthur's Seat. There are some really beautiful views from there at the top, and it's a lot quieter than Edinburgh castle. It can sometimes get a bit windy up there though so choose your day wisely. It's well worth the hike. lol :-) |

Craigmillar Castle!
- Edinburgh's "other" castle.
It really is the only other genuine in the city apart from Edinburgh Castle. It is a ruin, which gives it it's charm and romance. Look up the site below and see some pictures.
You can climb all over the castle and it's grounds, there are even dungeons!
It's a LOT cheaper than Edinburgh Castle too. |

My friend was just proposed to at the church ruin on Arthurs seat, if you go in from the meadowbank side it's not far.
Aurthurs Seat would be your best bet, you could drive halfway up then go for a stroll along the loch.

Yes, The Castle is the place to do it, preferrably near the signal gun at 13:00hrs so she doesn't hear you!!
What about at the top of the Scott Monument on Princes Street? |
