Depends what you want. YOu could go to Center Parcs or Haven, or one of those other adventure parks, where you can stay and the kids can have fun while you go for a massage or a spa day. If you want somewhere real, however, there are thousands of nice places. The Lake District is beautiful (I haven't been, but it's GORGEOUS!) and there are loads of things for the kids to do there. There are a few tourists though, so eiother go in the off season or find somewhere quiet (there are some places where you can get away from the tourists).
Lyme Regis is a lovely little town, I spent many holidays there as a child. It's safe, quaint, not too touristy (especially in February) and there are shops, dinosaur museums and a nice big beach. It's quite a small town, but there are a few attractions nearby.
The Isles of Scilly is where I would go, though. It is as safe as a small house in the middle of nowhere with a moat around it. Some of the isles are bigger, with roads and more people, but some are smaller where everyone knows everyone else (we only saw two people the last time we went to St. Mary's. One owned our cottage and the other worked at the post office). They are beautiful, there's lots of wildlife around to see (iot's pretty tame too), you can go on boat trips and fishing and on the beach and for long walks. You can go out without locking the house, and never be in any fear that your children might be in danger.
However, if it's constant action that your kids want, that may be too tranquil.
And by the way, Wales isn't in England. |
