Where would you live Manchester or the Lake District? |
If you only had to choose between Manchester with all the delights of a City, bars, shops etc, but noise, crime, pollution or the Lake District with all the delights of the great outdoors, lakes, mountains, peace and quite, but full of tourists, Sunday drivers etc, which one would you live in? (I am making this choice for real soon) |

I think that only you know the answer to this one.
If it was me making the choice, I would find a place in the Lakes which was not on the typical tourist itinerary but within an hour from Manchester.
I had a similar choice to make with London recently and have not regretted moving to the sticks, the feeling when you wake up and look out of the window in the morning and see nature rather than traffic and pollution is pretty special. |

well i live in manchester and while sometimes i wish it looked prettier i dont think i could live somwhere like the lake district, its great for a holiday but i couldnt cope without the many options you get in manchester for going out and shopping etc!
BTW, manchester can be a nice place and isnt all guns and gangs!! |

i love the Lake district, the only thing that would concern me is work. Would i be able to find a job in the lake district thats all year round.
i used to spend alot of time at the lakes. i live near the coast here, summers a nightmare with the tourists but it isn't all year round and it seems to make the coast magical, whenever i drive through it in the winter it's like a ghost town, so the tourists don't bother me, plus, it's only for a couple of months a year |

Well considering the fact that Manchester is an awful place to visit let alone live, i would go for the lake district. It's a beautiful place, the only problem as you say would be the tourists, but in my opinion Manchester is a no go! Highest crime rates in Britain, a massive gun and gang culture, and generally not a very nice place to be. |

I am from Manchester, and love the city (& Man. U.) dearly....... but hey, if given the choice I would definitely live in the Lake District - it's a beautiful place. :) |

I would much rather live in the Lake District. there are tons of tourists in Manchester also. There are pubs and shopping in Lake district, just not as much variety as the city. |

i wish i was moving to the lakes. me and hubby spend every Sunday there and have done for years. its a much better way of life. i live in a city and i hate it. i have never been to Manchester so i couldn't comment. but i would choose the lakes over any town or city. Manchester isn't too far from the lakes anyway is it? you could always spend a weekend there for clubs and bars and stuff. good luck |
