Battersea! I've lived here for years and I love the area. You get more for your money than in a lot of areas of London, mainly because we don't have a tube. However, this does not mean that we have bad transport links - Clapham Junction means that we have a very fast route into Central London. My average commute is about 20 mins.

Ealing, West London. It has great transport links, train to Paddington from Ealing Broadway stn takes just over 5 mins. If you drive, Central London is around 20 mins away. |

HEY!! you can live out as far as Dartford/Greenhyth which is on the edge of greater London (and comes under Kent) and it only takes you about 20mins by train to commute right into Central London!!!!
Wouldn't go near the centre, too noisey, too dirty, too many foreigners, too many cars, too many people, LOTS more crime, schools ain't all that really.
If it was me, i'd live edge of London/borders of Kent, at least you're by the countryside, fresh air, nicer people, not so much traffic, better schools, and oh!! commuting by train, only around 20/30 mins to central London !!!!! I Live in Welling and its only 20mins by train to London Bridge !!!! |

I live in Croydon, been here 11 years with no problems. Like everywhere some parts are better than others. There is a lot of open space and it's not as claustrophobic as more central parts of London. The tram makes travelling to Wimbledon and other areas easier. London Victoria is only 15-20 mins away by train. 600k would get you a nice pad too. |

Shepherds Bush. Has central line and hammersmith&city line. Minutes away from Hammersmith where there is more tube lines. You might only afford a studio though. |

If you only have £600k to invest then you may be rather limited. Suggest you try a houseboat on the Thames. Or a caravan. |
