being a londoner, i will say a toss up betw. London and Sydney (as sydney usually shades it)

we were partying in my house , usually i put the radio on for big ben . this time i put the telly on . what can i say ...... ?? FANTASTIC . we all stood there gobsmacked . the best firework display i have seen since sydney in eve of 2000. back then , london's was pathetic in comparison . i expect tony blair decided he wanted to go out with a bang and instructed his staff to get the best ( probably from u.s. ) (they can through some excellent shows--- always have done and they just know how to do it right) also when asking "how much do they want to spend ?" i expect the answer was something like " as much as you like !"

I watched London on sky news last night, it was brilliant.

The Sydney display (fired off the harbour bridge) was certainly impressive, but London's was mind blowing. I thought it was good last year, but this one really transcended everything. What I liked most was that they used colours not often seen in firework displays (orange, green, yellow) and the shades were so vibrant!

I just saw the London ones on TV in HD....Completely blew me away...all I can say is WOW.

As I was in work till 2am this morning, I didnt get to see any of the displays from around the world, but I did catch a glimpse of Australias which looked really good, and I did catch a glimpse of Londons, which also looked quite good.

It showed it on the news, and I was mortified to hear that the London display cost £1.3million.........I'm not a killjoy, so dont get me wrong here, but I cant help thinking that the money could have been put to better use.

I wonder how many NHS nurses that could have paid for?

Happy New Year :) x

I've lived in London for 52 years and I have to say that lasts night was the best firework display I've ever seen in London. Absolutely brilliant!

London always does a good one. I was just watching it on the television here in the US. It looked great, and the big wheel looked amazing in all the different colors. We have relatives in Liverpool (UK) and we called them but there isn't much happening there because of bad storms, and high winds.

I think New York does a good New Year's ... party. They don't really focus it on the fireworks, but the ball drop and all the confetti and balloons is a fun experience. Sydney and Paris also do good shows too.

That's a rather difficult question to answer. To decide the best, you will have to see all the others cities around the world in the entirety not just clips on the news.

Although I am English and proud of it, I cannot say which is the best, I can be partisan and say London, or I could stay neutral and say nothing.

All the displays are limited by budget, so some will have a bigger display than others, so as far as I am concerned, I will not comment as it would be unfair.
