When I was in London I really couldn't figure out what UK was the worse. The "upper class" just seemed to snooty and the cockney accent drove be crazy trying to understand it. But I loved all the accents. They just add something to the culture of England. |

I don't believe that question can be answered without the risk of offending whole loads of people who are doing nothing worse than speaking with their own regional accent. So I demand the right to remain silent m'lud. |

To the poster who complained about Manchester accents....he must have heard NORTH Manchester accents.
As a Brit, the accents I can't get are the deep countryside ones. Like deepest "Gimme 6" webbed feet areas. When such a person is on the TV (Our English TV) they often have to subtitle the interview.
But by far the worst accent is that of our ever thickening teenagers, who now speak with Australian raisings due to pointless brain killing soaps on the telly. |

Over the summer, I've developed a really thick suffolk accent. Now all my Uni friends are asking me where I picked an australian accent up from. |

scouse is awful, i was travelling once and from a distance heard 2 girls talking, i said to someone "have you met those 2 russian girls?" The person responded "they are not russian, they're are from liverpool". You could cut glass with that accent. And the geordie is just as bad, it just sounds like another language. I do feel sorry for brumeys, their accent just makes them sound relly stupid. "Would yew like a cup of taaaay"
How many people have to speak improperly for it to stop becoming a speech impediment and start becoming an accent? |

Cockney's ok - can seem quite funny...
The WORST accent HAS to be broad Yorkshire - particularly Barnsley...lol |

Manchester accents just sound aggressive and thick to me. Sorry to Mancunians , but you should hear yourself...
South Yorkshire accents (Leeds and Sheffield) are so depressing to listen to
And I dont enjoy listening to Welsh accents at all. |
