Which are the desirable areas to live in in and around Liverpool and which are the areas to avoid?

My partner and I are moving to Liverpool but we know nothing about it! If anybody knows it I would really appreciate some advice as to which areas are desirable to live in and which should be avoided at all cost. Thanks to anyone who can provide me with useful information about this.

Sorry for the use of the word 'partner' - apparently I should have used 'boyfriend'. Never mind eh - that's just the terminology I've got used to using. Didn't think it mattered so much!

Desirable places in Liverpool

Calderstones, West Derby, Aigburth (Pronounced eggbirth), Grassendale, Woolton, Gateacre (pronounced gataker) Childwall,(pronounced chilled-wall) Mossly Hill.

Outside the city boundaries there are lots of places where people commute from Southport, Formby, Crosby, The Wirral Maghull, Lydiate.

City Centre living is exploding in Liverpool and its easy to get your hands on a converted warehouse loft.

I live in Anfield, and work In Woolton. Like any City it has its problems. My niece is going to Nottingham uni next year, and has been warned that it is the crime capital of Britain, but I've been there and the city centre is nice. Another Niece is at Liverpool Uni, and her friends from down south come here with terrible warnings from their families, but absolutely love it.

Come and have a look and make up your own mind, unlike the people who keep knocking Liverpool, and have never been here.

well i recently moved to the wirral(ten minutes from liverpool) and my university is in an area called childwall, this area is nice and people have told me aigburth is nice. Dont listen to what these people on here say, bad mouthing a place that they have probably never even been to. I would advise Liverpool is better than merseyside which is where I am as its nicer and more is going on. The places I have mentioned are on the outskirts of liverpool, so you have more peace and quiet but are ten minutes from the city centre which is great. Liverpool isnt a bad place, its a friendly city with lots going for it, people only know what they see on tv and unfortunately it has never had a good press.

hiya oh my god don't let that lot worry you!i live in Liverpool have been living all over the city all my life.i live in Crosby, its a very nice area but very expensive.north Liverpool is nicer then the South.Crosby,Waterloo, and lither land are quite nice.avoid toxteth and the South end if you can.

That really depends on what your desires are, judging solely on your use of language such as "partner" etc you are the Middle class types that believe you are just the same as everyone else. I would advise you stay clear of Toxteth, Walton and Anfield.

Scousers have an exceptional linguistic skills and the criminal element are much more likely to earn your trust and get you to hand it all over willingly than to simply stab you and rifle your pockets. Apart from of course the desperate heroin and crack addicts, if you can spot them a mile off your not an **** and you respect the way things are done and who does them then you will be safe anywhere.

If your the type to step on peoples toes say the wrong thing and think your better than other people. Well I think you would be better off moving to manchester.
