Which is a nicer city to live? |
Coventry or Preston?
Which one is the less depressing place to live and has friendlier people? I'm gonna study in one of those cities (from overseas). Additional Details Hey, please do not suggest another cities. I have been accepted by the universities in those cities. There's no way I can change my choices of cities. |

Truth is very few people know both places well.
People are the same the world over, some are cheerful and others miserable with a lot of 'inbetweens'.
You need to find out which has the best record of educational results in the subjects you are taking. You will only be a student for a couple of years or so. Your exam results will effect the rest of your life.
I live near Preston. Do not care for the city much, it needs knocking down and re-building but it has some excellent links to other great places. The people are mostly friendly. Every one is speaks to you in Lancashire, whether you want them to or not. I even saw a policeman smile the other day (might have been wind).
I have never been near Coventry. So can not be much help. |

i live in coventry!
it's really good
it's a bit trampy out at night,
but you're only a half hour drive away from kenilworth or leamington or earlsdon, and they're great to go out at night
coventry university.. i've heard great things about it
coventry is full of good shops, everybody knows everybody, once you live here for a few years.
i love coventry,
i seriously think you should live here :P |

Hmmm well Preston is a complete sh!t hole to be honest (and I'm from the Northwest) but it is near to Blackpool which has a good nightlife.. if I had the choice I'd go with Coventry-it surely couldn't be any more depressing than Preston!! |

I have not been to Preston nor Coventry so I would not be able to tell you which is better however I would first consider the following:
1. Which university of the two will offer you the best opportunity for your future i.e. are they the best for the course you are taking?
2. Regardless of where you live, there will be lovely people around you and nasties too as you can judge from the comments you have got here about both the places. Generally the people in UK are reserved however once you have got to know them, you can find some great friends too.
So I would not worry too much about 'friendly' people. I am sure that in time once you are settle in, you will develop a whole new group of great friends regardless of where you are and you will know how to avoid those 'nasties'.
3. However, once you have chosen the city to go to, it is important for you to research and find out where you could find safe and affordable housing for yourself. The best people to advise you would be the university themselves.
4. Last but not least, find out if there are local communities of people from your own country at both of these cities so that you will not feel too homesick and can ovecome the culture shock from living in a foreign country.
All the best to whichever city you choose. |

Norwich because there they have a really good art and design university, they have a castle, 2 great shopping malls, cathedrals, hot people, everything you need in a city! Its not too busy either which can get quite annoying but its not deserted either! |
