Edinburgh has been named the best British city for quality of life by business leaders. The Scottish capital is the most desirable place to live, according to a survey of company executives on 33 of Europe's leading business cities. It is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe yet still has a population of just 400,000.
And the result is that it is considered top for lack of pollution, an ideal place to bring up a family and enjoy life.
A spokesman for Cushman & Wakefield, who published the report, told The Independent: "We have always known that the quality of life is terrific in Edinburgh and that it has an extremely attractive city centre, so we are not surprised that it has scored well in this category."
But senior managers and board directors from 201 UK companies also said the city has its drawbacks.
It is listed as being the most expensive place to park a car - even higher than London.
And it loses out to Glasgow, which is said to be the best city in which to locate a business.
Here are the top UK cities for quality of life, according to the poll:
1. Edinburgh
2. Bristol
3. Leeds
4. Manchester
5. London
6. Cardiff
7. Newcastle
8. Glasgow
9. Nottingham
10. Sheffield |

I agree with Lollipoppet - Peterborough is the place to come - it is that multicultured you may end up learning more languages than you would care too.
I personnally would not come here - I would find a good college where you live and do english there - you know you wont be here for 6 months only - you will end up living here forever with all the help you will ever need cos of our caring sharing government - it pays not to be English in the United Kingdom |
