I'd go to http://www.multimap.com and type in the postal code of the exact location you are in and it'll tell you nearest tube, train, and airport. |

It IS London City, no iffs or buts. But Heathrow is actually within Greater London too - the Underground goes there. But in terms of time getting to the centre, it isn't really any closer than Gatwick - even though Gatwick is some way out, since Gatwick has frequent fast trains to London. |

London City Airport, but there is an express (ha) rail link from Stanstead that will wisk you to Liverpool street pretty quick. |

London City Airport is geographically closest, but its transport links are so bad it's quicker to get almost anywhere in central London by landing at Heathrow and using the Heathrow Express. |

I would guess Heathrow. |

that will be docklands airport right in the heart of the city.
I think it is just called city airport.
This is the one all the toffs use and you better have plenty of money to fly into there |

London City Airport is closest, a relitvely modern development in the docklands of East London, but is only really used by business travellers for internal and short-haul European flights who pay a hefty price. You won't pick up your charter flight to the Costa del Sol here, and easyJet and Ryanair are highly unlikely to ever make apperances here - there just isn't the runway space and flight windows for huge amounts of traffic taking off and landing here. You'd be better off at Heathrow, which has far better travel links between the airport and city. |

It's news to me that London has a City Airport!
I'm not sure about your definition of nearest to central london. But off the cuff I would say Heathrow.
You can get to central London pretty easily from Heathrow as it has regular trains direct from the airport to the city.
However I dont think its too difficult to get to central London from Gatwick and Stanstead either.
Think Luton airport a bit further away. |
