Which manchester train station is nearest to the main shopping area?
Piccadilly is closet to Manchester city center, where all the shops etc are.

Piccadilly for the town centre
Victoria for the Arndale Center
Victoria then get a tram to he Trafford Center
Christine P
there's not much difference in distance between either Piccadilly,Victoria or Oxford rd as they all have a free bus to the city centre. If you go to the Trafford Centre you need to get the no 250 bus from Piccadilly gardens.Pixiegurl is wrong when she says you can get a tram to there as there is no tramline to there.

Piccadilly

victoria is a horrible dump of a station but it is much closer to the shopping centre than piccadilly
Sal*UK
Picadilly but there are four stations - is closest to Trafford Centre though.
houghton weaver
both piccadilly and victoria are close to the shops, what we do is either get off at deansgate and catch the tram or piccadilly and catch the tram, its only a 5 min journey and drops you off at piccadilly gardens where the shops are.otherwise its a 15 minute walk away.
pixiegurl2k2
Manchester Victoria or Picadilly are the best. Don't goto Hartford like the dimwit above suggested!! If you want to goto the Trafford Center you are better off taking a tram xx
Sam the Salopian Emo
The idiot above is wrong in saying you can't get trams to the trafford centre.
from whatever station you get the tram from on the ticket machine it'll say Trafford Centre.
then get a tram to Stretford and go to the bus stop in the car park and get the Trafford Centre Shuttle Bus which goes via stretford town centre to the main entrance to the trafford centre...
as for wanting the main city centre shops only local trains stop at victoria so you'll probably end up arriving via Piccadilly. Get a tram to Market Street and bob's your uncle... O_o
