In the immediate vicinity I'd suggest Kenwood House the magnificent stately home owned by English Heritage on Hampstead Heath. The house is beautiful and is set in landscaped grounds with a lake. Inside there is a magnificent colection of old masters by Gainsborough, Turner
etc. There's a good cafeteria for Lunch or tea and you can go for a wonderful walk on Hampstead Heath too; the nearest Underground station to Kenwood is Highgate on the Northern Line (Barnet Branch). From there catch a 210 bus. |

I would take a trip to Skye in May or June passing up from Glasgow through Glencoe at a leisurely pace. The McDonalds in Fort William does good coffee.
I would try to get the ferry from Skye to the Isle of Harris and spend several days (or weeks there). Great scenery. Fascinating language culture (Gaelic). Peaceful christian people. Church services in Free Church are very mystical!! especially in Gaelic medium. |

The Callanish stones on the Island of Lewis were erected around 4,000 years ago and would be my recommendation of an interesting place to visit. |

Inveraray, Argyll - without a doubt. It has some of the most spectacular scenery to be seen anywhere!
I've included a link below to give you some idea of what I mean. |

Spoilt for choice, me babber - I live in Clifton juxta Bristol, so we have the Suspension bridge, the SS Great Briton, the harbour side, the Zoo, and if you are prepared to go a little further a field, places like Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor and Stonehenge are only a bus ride away! |
