i really prefer the north east of england. the countryside is lovely, the people are warm and friendly, there's lots to see and do but it's not nearly so touristy and expensive as london.

if you do get to go to london i hope you have a great time :)

Hi.

I'm lucky; my wife's never been there, and I have.

It's expensive; so stay somewhere outside London and come in on a bus so you can have more days without dying of hotel bills. It's one of the best cities. I saw many things in a week; the best were the National Portrait Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, the WW II Museum, taking a board ride on the Thames to see the Tower of London, doing a walking tour to see the Inns of Court and the bus trip we took to Hampton Court Palace and Windsor Castle.

Oh, and I got to see a play and eat lunch at the British Museum pub, shepherd's pie. There's so much to see there, from Trafalgar Square to Piccadilly Circus, the Serpentine, the Houses of parliament, shopping, the Underground (subway), Westminster Abbey--I hope you make it.

Just a friend.
I will be visiting London week after next. It will be my third visit and I just love the city. One of the best places I have visited in Europe.

Hope you get to visit soon.

Eric
me 2 that would be cool , but maybe ill laugh at their accents lol.

It truly is one of the great city's,when I lived in Jolly old England I visited it many times. If you ever get there be sure to try and visit Europe too, it will open your eyes as to what makes city's great. By the way London is not in Europe as someone stated. Just a note to fashioni. you forgot Australia,so, according to you there are 8 continents you need to brush up on your geography.

i just got back from london on wednesday! it is freakin' amazing i love it there. It is the city that NY thinks it is. if you ever get the chance, take some time off from life and just go travel around Europe for a bit. something i think everyone should do.

It is a fabulous city. I went there for 10 days last November. There is so much to see & do, and the museums are free. That is probably the best deal in town. The town is beautiful and a lot of fun to explore...lots of nooks & crannies to explore. One of the best restaurants is Wagamama...it is all over the city. Keep in mind though that it is a very expensive city and the exchange is horrible. If something is 5 pounds, it really is about $10.

kt
nice place very busy loads to see and do...

CrimeSceneAdvocate
I have family over there. I visit them often. London is an amazing and beautiful place. You should deffinately go.

great city...make some English friends (say pen pals) first...they can take you places off the beaten path that are cheaper (if you are on a budget) and more exciting...

see all the historical stuff and dont' forget the shops, the nightlife and modern stuff...

read some guide books (you can find them at the library) and go online...

do the research first and just open yourself to having a good time...

I lived there, and without a budget, it was great..

Definitely go if you get a chance. Best of all, if you are a H.S. or college student, go now. I was fortunate to go on a 5-week summer program while I was in college. I stayed at Queen Eliz. College in Kensington (London) and took class 2 hours a day, 2 days a week and had the rest of the time to travel. Best of all, students get in free to lots of places, so it's a little cheaper to go as a student.

London is great - a nice combination of old, historic stuff and the modern. I was there in 1985 when the punk movement was in full blow. Guys with blue spiked mohawks standing in front of Westminster Abbey was a true visual of how mankind has progressed.

If you go, take in other area's too, though. Scotland and Wales are beautiful. I've also been to Germany, France and
Spain. I'd recommend Spain/Madrid and the Spanish Mediterranean coast, too. I'm hoping to get to Ireland next ...

London is a wonderful city and one that I would visit over and over again! My last trip was a year ago and I hope to go again real soon. There is so much do see and do. The museums alone are amazing! Although expensive, deals can be found. Check out Rick Steve's travel guide for some tips. Enjoy!
