Why are most passengers on public transport in London so rude? |
and what can we do to make it better ? I'm fed up of people pushing, shoving, swearing, spitting, listening to music on mobile loudspeaker, talking too loud on mobiles. I'm no prude, but was brought up well - I'm sure lots of you feel the same way? Additional Details nb - this is intended as an ettiquete issue, and not a race one as the last answerer has inferred... |

Don't give up on society.I know what you mean, giving up your seat, waiting for people to get off first, etc. You should hold your head high because you know you have done the right thing. For every rude ill mannered scallywags, there are nine decent people. Most people are the same regardless of colour, creed or religion.I am sometimes almost taken aback when I speak to people about anything, weather, anything.People want to be good to each other but they are held back by fear,Usually fear of the stereotypes. You cant blame society. If someone is rude or belligerent, let it go over your head.Tomorrow is another day,the sun will shine again.Pick yourself up and start again. One love to all!

It's because most people in London are rude - it's part of the culture! I am also sick of it - the tube is a nightmare to get in peak hour especially. I don't think it will ever change. Some days I try to be nice, to see if it will have a knock on effect (it never does) so you know what they say, if you can't beat them, join them (sad but true). If you figure out a way, please let me know - it would be nice to see just one person smile or say thankyou when you give up your seat for them. |

Because people are losing their morals
its not just London, people have no respect for anyone else, its a real shame because i was brought up properly, to respect my elders, mind my language, mind my P's and Q's etc, and i'm not even middle aged yet!
Its also not just on public transport this behaviour is happening,
Sad to realise the impact of children having children maybe.... |

is it not just that Londoners think everybody is a potential suicide bomber and just want to get to work or get home safely without having to be nice to people |

It's the same in any large city. |

Glad you asked this question because I too am fed up with very rude, self centred people. The job which I do is dealing directly with the public and it is a nightmare. When I ask them a question, they say'Na or OK'.They only occasionally say No thank you or Yes please.I think it is something to do with culture because I do not have this problem with black or asian people, these are polite and respectful. |

I've lived in 'London' and know what you mean.It is seemingly fashionable to be vulgar. |

Because London is no longer part of Britain, the whole bloody town is foreign. Absolutely, Blair's town |

They are all rushing to make their first million. Also, there are more non-whites than whites in London and so culture plays a very important part in people's behaviour. |
