I think your question speaks volumes as to why SOME Northerners think Southerners are stuck up wankers! |

I'm from the NE, but was curious at what the question said, thought it would be something like this.
I actually think it's because Southerners, people like yourself, seem to always want to start up this North V South thing.
Speaking from experience, I have met people in the North who have a lot more manners than those down South, they're friendlier.
The stats only say you have a better standard of living because you have London down there and property prices are far too expensive.
I wouldn't say you're "better educated" either. Yes, there are 'rough' parts up North where people aren't bothered about getting an education or even a job, but look how rough it is in places like Kent. The only people I have met in Kent are clearly uneducated tarts with nothing more to do in their life but wear pink mini skirts, a white tank top and go on the pull every single night. |

i am from liverpool and i disagree with your statement. understandably you will have a higher standard of living but that is merely the geography of the United Kingdom. I would strongly disagree that you have better education or manners. Numerous of my friends have recently applied and succeeded in getting into Cambridge and Oxford Universities and I myself am going to York University. The fact that i come from the North has nothing to do with whether im stupid or not. there is not a line somewhere in the middle of England that if you cross you automatically become stupid. Next time you decide to post an uneducated statement such as this one please do research first. Thank you. |

i was brought up in the south of england and recently moved to an upmarket area about 30 miles from newcastle and i have not found this to be true in most cases, the only places i have found this to be true is from some of the kids at school from deprived areas but its not just to the south it will be to anyone who is doing better in life than they are so i think its a bit of everything from money to accent or if you have a nicer house even down to if you travel a lot it just depends but the north im my opinion is a much nicer place than i was expecting |

Yes. No wonder and I'm not surprised! With the attitude like urs expressed here it beats me how U have not been dealt with by those great lads from the North East.
Allow me to tell you I sent my Son up to the North East when he was eligible to learn how to drive. Those instructors and staff really put him thru it and devoted their time to his passing with flying Colors.
Later on he went back there and gained both his HGV and PSV one after the other.
Hes quite taken with the North and spends a lot of his free time when on leave from the military (up there) predominately in and around Durham!
Catterick being one of my posting stations when I was in the military. + of course other postings further north
No, my boy, I suggest U get to know those guys and not forgetting their ladies who are some of the Best in the UK.
Visit Durham and its surrounding areas - you'll always be made very welcome. Unfortunately a lot of the original old Durham has gone being redeveloped. Buts its still a great place.
Notwithstanding its the home of the former DLI!

There are some rather good areas in Cheshire and Yorkshire too.
Generally speaking, London does have higher wages and the cost of living is outrageous. If you are not working in the city then wages are not a lot, if any different for the same job further up the M6 or M1
House prices are lower in the North, so if you are a fireman, nurse or policeman for example, a better home can be afforded in the North.
A decent detached house could cost the same price as a tiny terrace in the South. Making quite a difference to comfort and life style all round. |

Generally doesn't mean everyone - it is possible to come from the north and have a public school education and a good job. It's just northerners don't boast about it so much and get tired of boring southerners who think it's only them who are the bees knees. |

I'm in the north of England.
I think that if you read your question, you would see exactly why we don't have a very high oppinion of SOME southerners!
You don't have the first clue about etiquette OR manners... you've just demonstrated THAT!
How do you know that you earn more than me? Or what standard of living I have compared to yours?
You're a first class Numpty! |

OK, just want to know what you have got against people in the North of England, that you don't have against people in the North East. Are you from the Northeast? |

Theres not a big lot of hate either way. Its just history, th northeners and southerners. Im from greaterMerseyside, and i don't hate any southeners. But its incouraged alot of TV prgrammes like eastenders, coronation street .. where there programme is set in a certain part of the UK, sort of boasting about either the north or south. There is no difference in education, and theres people all over the UK with bad manners, same with standerds of living, Theres down run estates both halves. |

Absolutely. In the South, we are so well educated that we can't even say "yes". We always say absolutely. |
