Well most of their male role models died in world war 2, so many hundreds of thousands were raised by grannies, nannies, aunts and mothers. This gave English men a slightly less masculine core, to compensate for this most turned to sports like soccer, so boozing became a way of life for these men and their sons etc. The soccer hooligans are overcompensating because they figure youre not a real man unless you get drunk and start a fight with someone.

Just like Americans at home? Thats a lame assumtion dude. Asking why they are such drunks. Based on your observation of tourists... people on vacation looking to have a good time, which in this day and age often involves alcohol.
British are no more drunk than American or anyone else.

im no drunk,im teetotal(my own lifestyle choice)but yes you have a point,some think its fun to get pissed drunk every weekend,throw up,get in fights etc and talk all week about what a great weekend they had,then repeat it all the next weekend,they are dumbasses and dont realise you can have fun without drinking yourself into a stupor,i go ou tto the pub and get a laugh at all the people who do stupid stuff when they are drunk,and feel ok in the knowledge im not gonna have a raging hangover or get myself into any dangerous situation etc

depends where you go on holiday! if you go to skanky places, you will get skanky people! word of advice DO NOT go to benidorm ugh!! yeah unfortunately, there are a lot of nasty british men, hense why im single lol!!

I, personally hate the taste of alcohol. Nor do I have any desire to acquire a taste for it, but I don't see many drunkards and certainly not fighting in the street, and I live in Manchester which is supposed to be really bad.
So the conclusion I come to is that the amount of drinking that occurs in a nation depends on the individual, not the country.

And I was quite offended by your question btw, just letting you know.

Because British culture is quite repressive (I should know, I lived there for nearly a decade). So the only way to let loose is to get drunk. I am not trying to generalize, but it's increasingly becoming a problem with the younger generations in London. It is common to go out on any given night and see young men and women binge drinking.
