Why do you always see a shoe on the side of the motorway/road/dual carriageway? |

Ha ha! I have often wondered this myself. Heres a few of the ideas I have come up with:
1 - Someone has bought a new pair of shoes, can't wait till they get home to put them on, so they stop on the hard shoulder, pretending they have broken down, sit in the passenger seat to change their shoes, and accidentally drop one of the old ones out of the car.
2 - A long distance lorry driver often has a 2nd driver so they can take shifts driving. One driver is relaxing and having a snooze, and has taken his shoes off for comfort. He wakes up and they start to argue, and the driver throws one of his shoes out of the window just to annoy him.
3 - A family are coming back from holiday, dad is sleeping, mum is driving, the kids are bored - so they remove one of dads shoes and throw it out of the window for a laugh.
4 - Some gadgie is getting a ride in a posh car, they are about to throw up, but can't do it in the car coz it isn't theirs, so they do it in their shoe and throw it out of the car. |

It's a closet, car number collector?
It's looking for it's favourite sock?
It went out on a drunken binge and now can't find it's way home?
It had an argument with its partner?
It's hitching a lift home?
It's a runaway? |

I like PhD.s sense of humour.
I don't know the answer to your question but I do have a true story to tell you about a wayward shoe.
Once I took my ex (who was a real b.itch) to the beach for the day with the kids and at the end of the day when we were collecting our things ready to go, the tide came in and took away her left shoe. She saw it floating off and ran to rescue it but it was too late. We waited a while hoping the left shoe would return on the crest of the next wave but it never did. Eventually she gave up and as we started to walk away she threw her right shoe in the sea as well because it is no good on it's own. Almost immediately the left shoe got washed back in again. Needless to say the right one never came back. |

That is so true, and i often wonder to myself how does it get there because clearly no one is walknig on the motorway |

smiling is cute

because the left shoe never lets the right shoe know what it's doing. |

I was wondering where I left the other one.

No, why do YOU see a shoe there? I've not seen it... nor have my friends. So is this a psycho-somatic shoe, or a ghost shoe haunting you, or a fantasy shoe? Maybe it is an alien shoe from a dying planet that only reveals itself to selected humans whom it wishes to reveal their soles? (or would that be a heavenly shoe...) |
