Curious kitten!

Why does the Canary Wharf building in London smoke at the top? where does it come from?

Bilbo
Its steam from the cooling towers at the top of the building which run the air conditionong system. The roof is actually a series of louvres with all the kit inside. How do I know? - the man who designed it is sitting about 10ft away from me.

Bailey
The smoke you see is actually steam coming out of the heating/air conditioning system. It only really happens in winter when the outside temperature is lower than that of the heating system output.

Its probably form the ventilation/airconditioning system

air conditioning?

It's definitely steam from the air-con.

I saw a programme with Adam Hart-Davis about buildings in London and he went to Canary Wharf and filmed inside the roof.

Its the CEO on his *** break

fiona
It is not smoke, but discharges from the heating and air-conditioning systems.

(It is the same principle, when, on a frosty morning you breathe out - it comes out looking like smoke because of the relative difference in air temperature)

Ask the Security people on the Wharf how many times people have reported that they thought the Tower was on fire. Loads. They get that all the time.

Ha ha, i once pulled my colleagues into my office because i thought that the roof of Canary Wharf was on fire and we stood there ogling it for a while until we realised that no fire engines were racing down there!! So yes, i have often wondered what it is ever since. LOL
