Are you just pretending to be stupid.
The English taxpayer pays loads of money to Scotland to enable them to abolish education fees, to have free social care for their elderly, to be able to prescibe drugs which the NHS in England cannot afford.
And I like the Scots, and am pleased for them. |

Hmmm...
In fact, the net flow of cash is from England to Scotland, so I wouldn't complain if I were you! |

?

And one of your previous questions:
"Will the Scots ever stand on there own feet and stop robbing London they are really are a part of England?"
Make your mind up :P |

take a chill pill babe ...
We invested the money to open up the North Sea.
Also, if the Outer Hebrides hadn't been ceded to Scotland from Norway, the oil might belong to Norway anyway!!
Is there any country, type of person, race that you don't hate and try to be clever about? |

Not much thought went into this question so I am not going to give it the benefit of a thoughtful reply. I'll just take the 2 points. Thanks. |

I beg to differ - the Scots are robbing the English!. They want their independence but still expect to have members of Parliament able to vote for English policies. Soon we will have a Scottish Primeminister Have your independence for goodness sake but don't expect any money from the English - go it alone properly if you are brave enough.
Then again, the Scots do have a reputation for being a bit tight with their money don't they! |

I believe economically this is a tricky question. In some ways Scotland does extremely well out of being in the union and in others England does well. It's not a simple equation, but certainly there seems to be very little support of the belief that life in England would be adversely affected by Scottish independence. All it really needs is the mandate of the Scottish people - and then vive la difference! |

England wasn't "robbing their oil". The proceeds served Scotland as well as did employment in Scotland, an historically high unemployment area of the world. All we've got left are the oil reserves around the Falklands and it would wise of the Scots to support England in this. |

So how about the fact that the nett flow of money is not to England but to Scotland? The government basically pours money into Scotland & gets very little back.
There is a Scotish Parliament for Scots only but Scottish MPs also sit in Westminster. Where is the English parliament for English only? From where I sit (which is not even in Europe) it looks very much like Scotland is overrepresented politically, hence the ability to get too much subsidy from south of the border. What are you whining about?
A harsh answer to an outdated unoriginal question designed only to cause friction. |
