I've given this matter much thought and discussed it at length with a wise man once.

He came to the conclusion that the one-shoe left-by-side-of-road syndrome is the remnants of a much larger alien abduction plot.

Right up there with the wonky supermarket trolley wheel conspiracy and the bring-your-own-brick whilst-strolling-by-the-canal in-your-jammies and-throw-it-in and-save-it and-take-the-credit fraud of '94.

You were warned.

Well because there is not two....For one shoe people will just
drive on...But if there were two shoes....well thats when people will stop to pick them up.......And ''CRASH'' ...you got youself an Accident..

I think a kidnapper is trying to dispose of evidence.or

A couple had a fight and one is throwing the others' stuff out the car window..or
Someone bought new shoes and tossed the old ones out ,miles apart .or
The one shoe decided to "come outof the closet", the other one of the pair was too scared and stayed home.

After they've been on the same motorway as you, they visit the playing field behind me coz there's always a shoe on there too. Perhaps we should compare notes and we might find a matching pair!!!!
There was one lonely trainer on there today - have you seen the other on the M6?
