Will summer EVER arrive?

What's the long range forecast for this summer? With 4 kids i'm praying that the six weeks holiday will be good weather-wise....has any one heard what we can expect?

The link below shows what the Met Office are saying about the prospects for this summer. Please bear in mind, however, this was issued on 30th May so it's a little out-dated now.
The update to this forecast is due next Tuesday, so check back then to see if and how they've amended it. Of course, take everything they say with a pinch of salt - long-range forecasting is notoriously difficult!

I scan the medium-range charts every day for signs of something akin to summer, and at the moment I'm sorry to say there's nothing too promising for the next 10 days or so.
The shape of the jet stream so far this summer is all wrong for those wanting day after day of warm, sunny weather. The Azores High is in the wrong place, and it's completely elongated.

One crumb of comfort, though, is that this pattern has now been in place for three months now, and it really can't carry on for too much longer. Things will have to change sooner or later. Whether they will change for the better or the worse I wouldn't be brave enough to forecast. All I will say is that it can't really get much worse than it has been so far this summer, so the odds of probability surely favour a change for the better.......I hope.

We were nearly flooded out this morning, and by mid-afternoon it was blue skies, sunshine, and 20+ degrees.
Summer in the UK starts this weekend for a fortnight......I'm off on holiday!

Officially Summer starts on the Solstice, which could be tomorrow or Friday....not sure which.

Apparently its supposed to be the hottest summer on record, one like 2003.
But they say that every year.

I think we've already had it, wasn't it the two hot weeks that we had at the end of March?

I think it is coming, but not until the end of August!!

I'm sure it will be nice and sunny in July to august as the weather will settle that time. i have heard that there will be a heatwave soon but we are no where near it yet. So don't worry.

Angel
We are in for a long hot summer, but it wont be 30c every day, we are in england after all, july & august will be hot, we will all be sick of it come sept, we just like moaning about the weather whatever it's doing
