I have never heard such a bunch of hypocritical, stereotypical, idiotic views in all my life. I am from Manchester and I think that you have been watching too much shameless. I have travelled around Australia, Asia, Europe and lived in various places in England and I can guarantee that there are far worse places than Manchester. It happens to be a very lively and friendly place. Maybe if you came here without all your stupid pre conceptions you would discover some of the jewels, such as the nightlife, the student community, the restaurants, museums and down to earth people who do not slag off other towns and cities as you do.
You obviously believe all you watch on TV. Well get a life the lot of you. |

run down areas like moss side most of the people are law abiding people but not much money put into regeneration projects in the area. its a shame really as i lived there before and the people were lovely.
the people are not un educated there are 2 universitys in south manchester to begin with and a lot of local people do go to these, so id get your facts right first.
mikey b i take you have never lived in manchester or birmingham long enough to recognise the true potential of both cities and their people.
there are much worser places than manchester trust me im originally from bham live in lake district now, i enjoyed living in manchester very much. |

With so many new bars and pubs opening all the time, it's going to be hard on my liver.
Too many new restaurants for my waistline to take.
Too many record stores in Vinyl Alley, I'll never get around to listening to everything.
Not enough places to recycle in the city centre, but then I'm getting exercise at the same time I suppose.
There's always something at the theatre or concert hall I want to see so it's hard to save £££!
The cost of going to the cinema, all those screens and hardly any does a cheap matinee.
On a sunny day I can never decide whether to walk around the Quays or take the train up to the moors or look around Canal Street or just in my garden?
Then on a rainy day should I spend it in the library, or the bookstore, or the Arndale, or a gallery, or a museum, so many decisions! |

This is the place I've been living since I came to UK 5 years ago and I wouldn't live anywhere else. The city centre and Trafford shopping centre are great and nearby Bury has great local market. But the east Manchester areas are quite grim.
The chavs are all over the country, they are not concentrated in one city! |

The incompetent, corrupt Labour council
The derelict buildings with weeds growing out of the walls.
Gun crime
It rains all the time.
Grey and depressing
Litter everywhere, a very dirty city
Bomb-sites still around 60 years on
Begging junkies everywhere
Capital of car crime in the UK
Second highest city for claiming benefits(Liverpool 1st)
Coronation Street |

The weather is terrible. The sky is the same colour as the road, nearly all the time! And in winter it very rarely snows just keeps on raining even when there is lots of lovely snow just a few miles away in Yorkshire!
The people are very nice though, with a good sense of humour that you just don't find anywhere else. |

As somebody who lives in the warmer, drier, sunnier more civilised area of North Worcestershire who has had to visit Manchester on a regular basis over the last 6 years I can confirm the worst thing about Manchester is, wait for it, the people of Manchester!!
Uneducated, uncivilised people who are still obsessed with the fact the 2002 Commonwealth Games was held there - guess what, no-one cares!
You are not fooling anyone with a few new blocks of flats and a couple of shiny office blocks. Every large UK city has had the same thing, Birmingham, Leeds (which incidentally are both far friendlier than M'cr) - They have all been re-developed.
A message to the people of the north, move south. It's warmer, richer, healthier and generally far more developed as a society.
Manchester has the lowest life expectancy in England, that statistic says it all really!!! |
