Would you walk around the streets where you live after midnight?

do you think it is mostly safe outside after dark in your area?

People these days are too afraid of the few things that might possibly lurk behind the corners. Every place has it's few possible problems, but as long as you know how to handle yourself... walking outside wherever you live should be fairly safe. Why live there if it isn't safe enough for you, personally?

Frequently, no problems here that I can't deal with.

Trish
Yes I have done but there are areas in my town where I would not go after dark

carina
I live in north London ... I would be OK with walking around in the middle of the night, and I'm old and can't run

I am in the U.S. and I would in my old neighborhood, but a lot of others would not. Around my neighborhood, you better keep a knife in your pocket or be known in the neighborhood, or you will get robbed, raped, killed etc. I knew a majority of the people from my neighborhood because I lived there from the time I was born until recently [ I am 16]. I recently moved to a better area.

i used to live in southall, west london and no joke i would see people buying drink and being drunk, junkies, drug dealers, pimps & prostitutes at 8.00am in the morning when i went to get the morning papers.!!!!!!!

I now live in newquay, cornwall and it is paradise here..it is very safe and i would have no hesitation at all of walking around here after dark!!!!

i'd rather stay in

Say what!!!!
I would walk where i live after midnight, but, i would walk in the middle of the road, in case of anything i can run, like i am doing the 100 yard dash and make plenty of noise.

Nowhere is safe after midnight, it is just a chance you take being outside at that time of the night.

Yes and I'm quite happy to. The area of the town I live in is better than the rest but not the best. Nothing extreme happens in this area.

I'm another North Londoner - and I also walk around after midnight - I get late tubes, nightbuses sometimes - come across the occasional shouty drunk, but no real trouble.

'Er indoors!!
I regularly walk around my tiny Cornish village after dark, and it's perfectly safe. I am more likely to be attacked by irate badgers than druggies and drunks!!!

Mark A
Yes, but to be fair, I'm 6'4" tall and weigh 19 stone.
My wife if only 5'4" tall, but she also feels safe, mainly cos I am by her side :)

Seriously tho, we live in a small cambs village with very little crime, so it would probably be 'yes' even if she were alone.
