Wouldn't it be great to get the Edinburgh Suburban Circle running again?

It would introduce a pleasant way to travel around the city although it might be difficult to use some of the stations. for instance, the one at Abbeyhill (Jock's Lodge) has been developed and it would be difficult to build one at Cameron Toll. All the same, it would be good to have it open again.

There is no Scottish suburban railway on which the fares collected come anywhere close to the cost of operation. Hence, the Council Tax payers pick up the difference.

I thought that the good folk of Edinburgh felt that they already paid too high in Council Tax. And you want to add the cost of the Edinburgh Suburban Circle!

Have you no heard about the cooncil's plans for a tram line? Why would we need the Circle running again when this new tram line is gonna be so useful - to very few people, and at a very high cost, that is!

Yours is such a sensible suggestion that it'll never happen I'm afraid because sensible suggestions tend not to happen, or am I the only one who's noticed this?

Good idea. Why not ask Sir Tom Farmer to throw some of his spare money at mega-rich Edinburghers instead of trying to improve the quality of life of some poor Africans?
If it was such a great idea surely private enterprise would be interested?
Get real.......it ain't gonna happen......and with any luck the whole silly idea of tramlines will be cancelled too.

LRT offer a day's unlimited travel for Â£2.50.....who can compete with that?

People have previously kissed this train to see if it was a bonny prince and now explains why it presently looks dourly unappreciated where it had been previously sidetracked.

The council is too busy just now making plans to close schools and to make a new tramway which seems a bit unnecessary

It would be great, in this age of traffic congestion, to get people back on to public transport and opening up these suburban railway lines would be a far easier and stress free journey for commuters than bus or car. I think it's a terrific idea and I hope the Scottish Parliament listens to the public and does something about it. I have signed the petition. Perhaps a petition could be set up for the re-opening of the Balerno branch as well??

And there was another station between "Cameron Toll", which didn't exist in those days and just west of KB - I think it was called Newington station.

It would be great, it will reduce congestion on the roads. Also you would see things you wouldn't normally see, Nothing like a change of scene
