If you're doing the continental 48, I'd start in Seattle, WA and visit Mt. Ranier or the San Juan Islands then go to San Francisco, CA to do the tourist thing and San Diego, CA to hit the beach (trust me LA isn't worth the time) then I'd hit Denver, CO or the Grand Caynon in AZ before moving on to San Antonio, TX. After TX I'd move north to Saint Louis and Chicago before heading southeast to Miami, FL and ending at NYC before flying home... assuming you're coming from Western Europe and all...
If you're actually coming for a visit I hope you have a lovely trip! Cheers! |

Go to San Francisco. It is the most beautiful city in our country. You can spend two weeks just exploring what this area has to offer. |

It depends what you like to do, urban activities or outdoor activities. I would suggest choosing a region and exploring it over 2 weeks. Go to California, start in San Francisco, drive to Tahoe, then Yosemite, then to Death Valley to Los Angeles. You could also swing by Palm Springs for 2 days if you like to golf, or Vegas.
Alternatively go to the East Coast and you can cover a lot of historic cities with little driving: New York, Boston, Washington DC, and Philly. |

I live in California and there are lots of great places to visit here. However, if I had a full 2 weeks...I'd want to visit some place I hadn't been to before. I'm thinking of New England....fly there, rent a car and visit as many places as I could. |

Depends on what your taste is, here are some on the west coast:
Adventure: Somewhere with mountains/wildlife (Utahs' Bryce Canyon)
Relaxation: Warm open places with friendly people (Any beach in California)
Family time. Rent a Cabin ( Las Vegas' Mount Charlston)
Entertainment with the Mr. or Mrs. (Las Vegas itself) |

My friend's parents flew from Scotland to Las Vegas, rented an RV, and then drove all the way to Chicago. They made stops in big towns and little ones, and even went up to Canada. They had a blast! Just doing high-end and low-end things. Depends on your budget. If you have the chance to visit San Francisco or Napa Valley, I highly recommend it. |

Go to southern Utah. So much to see in such a compact area. Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyons. The Dixie National Forest is wonderful 9000ft elevation. Bryan Head, if you like snow and such. The summer Shakespeare festival is a Tony award winner, and offers more than just Shakespeare. The hiking in Zion is fantastic. The views are wonderful, it is accessible for all ages, they have a great tram system. The arches national park is there. There are dinosaur digs, and museums. The people are friendly and very hospitable. We go there so often we are looking for a cabin. But the area is also @ 3 hrs from Las Vegas and a short time from AZ. Lots of old ghost towns along the way.
But I also would go to the Smithsonian and the mutter museum, on the east coast. |
