I've never been out of the US, but I'm guessing there's something great in every country! |

Well... they say the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I'm an American, but I'd prefer to live in Australia.
But it's not so bad here. I wouldn't call it the greatest country in the world, but we're more afforable than living in Europe, and the people are diverse and generally friendly. If you want "glamorous" America, you better move to a big city like New York, LA or Chicago... you'd be disappointed by suburban America and how extraordinarily average is it. Of course, we also have our faults... including the occasional idiot and no national health care.
But if you want to come, we'd be happy to accept you! It seems like we greet the Aussies and Brits with especially open arms. |

We are so alike, I too love the USA (I just know that is where you are talking about).
I put it down to growing up on a diet of American films.
And (like you) I too am an Australian citizen, living on the east coast.
I've been to the USA three times, the first time for six months, I've seen more of the country than most Americans. It is a wonderful place with so very much to see and do.
But life is not one continuous holiday.
You work to pay your way; in that it is similar to Australia.
You live in one place, you work or go to school, have your friends and family.
And that can be done in most any country in the free world.
It is still my desire to (one day) live out my life traveling that country.
I can never get enough of doing that.
However, (didn't you just know there would be one of those?) I can tell you from experience, Australia is the very best country in which to live (anywhere in the world).
We have the climate, the lifestyle, the chance and ability to do most anything we want.
We share no common borders with another country - that alone puts us in a unique position.
But you should go, you should experience all you can of the USA while you are young, you will never regret it.
But (and I'm assuming you are born and bred here), you will come back; that is just the nature of Australia.

There are cliche's about that, including "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" and "east, west, home is best".
Most people in America live normal lives that aren't very different from the lives of people in Australia. What you see on TV (including the news) and at the cinema is almost always an exaggeration, whether good ot bad.
If you want to move to the USA you need a job + a work visa unless you are independently wealthy. You need a sponsor (employer) for a work visa - you can't just apply for one on your own.
Check with US companies in Australia and Australian companies with offices in the USA. For example, Hilton and Marriott hire international staff as interns. Disneyworld also hires international staff as interns.
Australian citizens can visit the USA for up to 90 days as a tourist, so you could travel for interviews & tests if necessary.
Search "international exchange programs USA" and there should be many links to programs that offer temporary and seasonal work in the US. Do carefully check any programs you might be interested in as not all of them are a good deal.
Another option is to go to school in the USA. Australian citizens can easily get a US student visa and you MAY be able to work on-campus. Having a USA university diploma or certificate will make applying for jobs easier, and going to school in the US will help you decide if you really want to move here.

America is like any country, it has a hard time fulfilling all that it promises. Too many ways of thinking and governing. I would look at the city you want to live in and see if their lifestyle matches yours instead of looking at America as a whole. We are very diverse from east to west and north and south. |

douche.

It's like living in australia, except things are cheaper and you pretty much have to drive EVERYWHERE. |

I really admire your sense of pride and modesty. Australia is a pretty cool place. It's a real shame you don't like it. Not saying that America is a bad place, I've never been there to tell, but you haven't really provided much on why you hate it here. Thus, your claims are not very strong. Have a good day. |

America is nice but I wouldn't call any place the best place in the world. We have really beautiful nature and county fairs. We also have you know who in the white house, but not too much longer. |

Depends on where you wanna go.
Canada is part of America, aswell as Mexico and Cuba. ;)
But if your talking about the US then expect it to be like Aus.
ive been to both and both are the same, food doesnt taste good >/
And some are rude to you, mainly old folk and afew workers.
and why dont you like Aus? you got Movie world and Dreamworld xD |

America is not at all the best place to live ,everyplace has its draw backs america has a big under the skin drug problem and until
It gets a hold of the situation of drugs and illegal immigrants coming into our country america with all its greatness will be a long way away from being great. Stay away from america until this drug issue is
gotten ahold off our people and the illegal immigrants killing our
banks, schools and hospital facilities with useing free services like they
are owners of the health system. And lastly we need to eliminate
all the racial tensions between the races like the blacks hate for
asians and the mexican latinos hate for blacks, and the distain
the est of society feels toward all the hatred the feel just walking
thru a city street worried if they are in the wrong street or on a gangs turf affraid to get out of a car if it breaks down for fear of being
killed for being the wrong color or dissing someones perceived
turfs. The police knowthe turf wars of south central its rediculous
and stupid but a family of four whites lost their lives in a hail of
ak47 bullets for driving sown a freeway offeamp looking for a
repair shop for their car which was breaking down showing
repair lights in the dash when they all where shot to death
by a gang who owned the street. the dude lost his life and his kids and wifes life too trying to find help for a car problem.
think about that when you come here okaycheers. |
