I really don't understand people. You asked for a suggestion on a road trip but all people can do is sit here and judge, trying to tell you what to do. That is one reason I hate putting questions on her...people are way to judgemental (hypocrits). I am done venting now. With that being said here are some suggestions:
Catalina Island
Disneyland
San Diego/Seaworld/Zoo/Wild Animal Park (I had to include it because I live there...hehe)
Mexico
Camping
Palm Springs
Beach |

Memorial Day for many is just a 3 day week end. My I suggest a visit to one of many Veterans Administration's cemeteries. Memorial Day is for the remembrance those men and women who severed in our country's armed services and have passed away. |

A drive up Northern Cali via the coastal roads is great. Lots of cute little coastal towns with great view and a lot of family things to do. I recommend going to Fort Bragg, that is a great family vacation, you could even camp on the beach! |

Go and visit with nearby friends or family. I think that Memorial Day is not so much (for me) about visiting graves and being sad at the lose of a loved one, i think that it should be a celebration for those who have gone on to the after life to be with their god. Hope that helps you. |

You could take her to Huntington Gardens, and just sit in the garden area, or walk through the library there.
There's always the beach.
You could take a drive through Topanga Canyon, and have a little picnic lunch. |

someone mentioned the hwy 1 you can just go for a bit and stay in Cambria and then maybe see hearst castle. We got a great room on the beach on priceline and then did tour #1 at the castle...really nice and pretty up there. Not too far either.
We also love Vegas but it will be packed this weekend. Theres always San Diego...lots of stuff to do there! Theres sooo much around here...were so lucky to live in this great area. Maybe go on line and see where you can get a great room for cheap! Be open to any where! The baby will be fine...my kids always were on road trips! HAVE FUN!!! Wish I was going outa town this weekend!!! |

I think that the holidays that are celebrated with 3-day weekends are terrible times to take "road trips" because so many others are also getting in their cars. How much are you paying for gas where you live?
Whatever it is, it's not worth it. |

KaTiE

um no because the gas price is like 3.50 and it may get higher. do u want to pay that much for one weekend trip>? |

Take a bus and save the cost of gas, plus you can relax and let someone else do the driving. There are many charter busses that may even go through your city or town. You might be suprised to learn the history of your area.Have a great weekend! |

Look for campgrounds around your area that rent cottages. Most campgrounds have a lot of on-site activities, and you don't have to travel too far to feel like you're away from home. We camp about 10 minutes from our house sometimes, and still feel like we're on vacation. |

I think you should go to a wildlife animal park or sanctuary in the area. The Wildlife Waystation in Angeles National Forest is really neat. Maybe even going to Disney's Animal Kingdom. Animal Conservation and nature is always very relaxing and actually has strong benefits to the development of children. |

It could also be a nice road trip, depending on where you are, to go to Arlington National Cemetery and also the Black Wall for the Vietnam soldiers that didnt come home. Basically I think D.C would be a great place to take a road trip on Memorial Day. |

I have a really good idea. Plan a day trip to some point of interest in your area. Calculate the costs including the gas, supplies, admission fees, etc. Then take the money and donate it to a worthy charity, stay home and enjoy the day with your infant and loved ones, and rest! I believe your baby will also enjoy this more, your carbon footprint will be reduced, and you will get the good feeling knowing you contributed to something worthy. |

I live in New Jersey and am about an hour from down the shore, but on holiday weekends, it might as well be as far as California! Most people I know in any state stay home or visit family and/or friends. Between the heavy traffic, the irritated drivers on the road and the gas prices ~ it's too stressful! I used to go to a local park when my daughter was a baby, it was usually deserted and it was so nice! Whatever you decide, have a great weekend! |

My favorite drive for that weekend is going from the driveway to the garage. |

If we all stayed home in protest of high gas prices , the oil companies would have to look into lowering their prices !!! |

Have you ever done Highway 1 to San Francisco? It's a beautiful drive. If you do go that way, I might pass you going the other direction on my motorcycle! |
