Anybody out there in FLORIDA or GEORGIA?

I'M IN COLORADO-JUST WONDERING ABOUT THE GAS SITUATION DOWN THERE???
Additional Details
Thanks for your answers--it seems odd that our news stations in Denver aren't even mentioning the gas problems down south.

The shortages are primarily in the metro area counties - counties close to the major cities in Georgia: Atlanta, Columbus, Athens, Macon, and Savannah. This is mainly due to a little thing known in Economics as "supply and demand." Of course, the media has overhyped the situation, causing a major panic buying frenzy all over the state.

Consumers are being advised to cut down their trips as much as possible, which is nearly impossible if your job has you on the road constantly, like taxi drivers, caterers, real estate agents, and other careers that require constant travel.

Its really bad here. Especially last week. We are suppose to get gas here this week 9/29/2008, beginning Monday. It really is hard to find gas. Its like something you would see in a movie. I kept a quarter tank of gas at all times. So if I was running a little low I stopped or drove near the stations I usually buy gas. This weekend was really a nightmare. You can go to "WSBTV.com online, that's one of the television stations in Georgia. It seemed there was no gas in Atlanta.

I use to live in Georgia for eight years and drove Toyota Tercel. Not everyone drives an SUV.

I live in Pinellas County (Tampa Bay area) Florida and have not seen any problems here as of yet. Of course I have lived here through 25 hurricane seasons so I always have at least a half tank of gas. I saw on the news this morning that the Southeastern U.S. (NBC was reporting from Atlanta) is suffering through a serious gas shortage. We have no refineries except in the Gulf regions of Texas and Louisiana. Other parts of the country have pipelines and what not so they have more gas available.Bottom line is the gas/oil companies have shafted us once again. They stopped production at the refineries not because of Hurricane Ike but because we Americans were driving less. Ergo they don't want to refine gas that they will have to sell relatively cheaply as then Exxon/Mobil and the other big boys profits will take a dip from the record profits of the past few years. The government ought to stop bailing out greedy companies and investigate their practices to manipulate prices and keep them artificially inflated.

We're fine here in Orlando - the govenor threatened to prosecute anyone who played games with gas prices or supply so we're ok for now :p

The gas crisis is ridiculous. The gas stations that do have gas have 50 or so people lined up at the pumps spewing into the roads. I am honestly surprised that there is not more gas gouging with the shortage we have

Hines
OMG! 3 days I waited in line. Day 1 I waited for 2hrs6min and they ran out of gas. Day 2, 1hr 40mins 3 cars away from the pump and they ran out of gas. Day 3, 2hrs3mins, finally was able to get gas, but they only allowed $20 worth. I drive a navigator, in 2 days my gas light will be on again. I don't live by a MARTA line so I've been driving to the nearest station and hopping on the train only to find out that most of the parking spaces are taken. I'm at my wit's end.

Georgia. Gas shortages are worse in Atlanta. In south Georgia a few stations are completely out but some have regular or premium. I know of no stations here that have all pumps on.

The gas situation is absolutely ridiculous!!!! Apparently we didn't learn from hurricane Katrina, or the gas crisis in the 1970's!

M
Actually, there is no shortage at all in savannah becuase we dont get out gas from that line but from ships that bring it in.

persianiverson7
absolutely horrible...1 out of every 100 stations have gas, and there is at least an hour wait. Im about to run out tomorrow...dont know what im gonna do

There is a gas crisis in Atlanta? I didn't notice.

I think it's at least partially due to the fact that it's being hyped by the media. They see everyone waiting at the gas station and everyone panics. I went to South Ga last weekend and this past weekend. There was no shortage once you passed Henry County on I-75.
