Anyone else from the UK who dreams of one day doing a big American road trip?

Already have when I was 21.(I'm from England by the way.) Bought A Pinto and had a great 2 months on the road. Do it before excuses start poppining up that will stop you. Seize the moment!

Last year my friends and I decided to take out overdrafts and just get on a plane, the next day we landed in Los Angeles Airport and travelled around for a month, staying in motels and doing the tourist thing and it was amazing!Unfortunatly money ran out after 5 weeks so I had to come home!
But it was so worth doing and I plan to go back next year and have a properly planned trip!

I'm an American that has done the whole road trip adventure...I will tell you there are MANY beautiful places to see, as well as Fun, Fabulous things to do here in America! Of course there ARE little hick towns (as one of the posters above mentioned....but that is true of ANYWHERE in this BIG BEAUTIFUL WORLD...BUT it sounds as though he/she has seen ONE or TWO too many weird Hollywood Slasher...Chain Saw massacre Movies and believes what he see's on the Silver Screen is Real Life here in America...LOL...if that were true then we Americans would believe all of Europe is like the "HOSTEL" movies! It just "AIN'T" SO..(giggle)...so with that said...I have been all over the Unites States, from Alaska to Hawai'i and up into the Fabulous Canadian Rockies...I am VERY PROUD of the Magnificence of my Country and would LOVE to share it with ANY Brother or Sister from across the POND and anywhere else that would appreciate it...PLEASE come and make your Road-Trip and ENJOY...You are MORE than Welcome Here,we look forward to your visit...BUT those of you who look down your noses at us and Our Country...Do Us ALL a FAVOR and STAY HOME!!!~~Michelle from California~~

i'm from Northern England and i think it would be great to do it. it is something i have thought about before, but none of my friends are up for anything like that, so i guess i will never get the chance to do it

No Ive always wanted to go all the way across from one coast to the other, Id have to go zig zagging though cos theres so much I want to see. Mind you theres so many little hick towns where strangers arent welcome and end up being chainsawed or worse, according to the tv anyhoo, soooo....
