Are penny slots worth the time? And do they offer free drinks regularly while playing them?

Most any casino with penny slots treat em just like any other slot machine for service.
But a penny slot, to get full action will cost anywhere from 9 cents a spin up to $3 or more dollars a spin.
Last year I won over $700 on one off a 60 cent bet on one spin.
As far as drinks, yes the drinks are free but the service is not.
Tip you server at least $1 a round To Insure Proper Service which is what TIPS stand for.

penny slots? There aren't any major casinos that still have penny slots since the Silver City disappeared. What are advertised as penny slots are $2.50-$3.00 slots that have 15-20 'ways' or 'lines' of possible winning depending on how many pennies you put on each line. While they are fun and you will get drinks you may as well play the quarter machines for better odds at the maximum bet.

Penny slot play qualifies for free free drinks but a $1 tip is customary and service is not as good as the high roller areas.

However, when it comes to advantage for the casino, penny slots are not very good for the player. If you can afford the higher bankroll, you are better off playing higher denomination machines because they are "looser" which means they don't take your money as fast on average.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board keeps statistics for all casinos in Clark County with at least 100 slot or video poker machines. These casinos are called non-restricted.

When you look at the win percentage for the casinos (which is what you the gambler loses on them) the worst machines are the progressive (linked) jackpot machines such as Megabucks followed by penny slots. Usually the smaller denominations are the "tightest" and the larger value machines are "loosest".

Here are the numbers taken from http://www.VegasMadeEasy.com which uses the Nevada Gaming Control Board numbers in their statistical analyses. These are based on the calendar 2007 twelve months.

GAME-----Casino Advantage

Megabucks------12.70%
Penny Slots------10.83%
Nickel Slots-------8.92%
Quarter Slots-----6.44%
$5 Slots------------5.88%
$1 Slots------------5.75%
Multi-Denom.-----5.31%
$100 Slots---------3.82%
$25 Slots-----------3.55%

There is a huge amount of difference for the penny slots very the $25 machines. Multi-Denominational machines come in between the $1 and $100 slots.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board does NOT differentiate between video poker and slot machines but it is believed the casino wins less on the video poker machines by about 2-3 full percentage points. If you learn video poker you can actually have a very slight advantage on a few machines with perfect play.

They can be and they are usually more interactive than most other games when you hit the bonuses. If have seen people do very well with them - I even turned $10 into $60 in about 5 minutes one day. And you won't feel like you spent too much, as it is just pennies, if you stay within a budget, which you should do with any type of gambling anyway.

And yes, the cocktail waitresses will be around, they just don't go to the penny slots areas as frequently as they do for the higher value machines and tables. But if you tip your waitress well (a dollar a drink is pretty standard) then she will be more likely to come around more often.

If you're just killing time, penny slots are amusing. You're not going to win big there though. You can get free drinks there.

they are if you're just trying to hang out. if you're trying to win money, you won't get much. and yes, they do serve free drinks if you are gambling.

Contrary to what others have said, I played penny slots (1c a spin) at Mandalay Bay and managed to get 6 beers in 2 hours with a $1 tip each time. Played a penny slot at 14c a spin at Bellagio and got about 4 drinks in 2 hours.

I sat at the Penny slots and never had an empty drink glass in my hand at the Flamingo. As long as you tip a buck a time, your server is coming back. They have the best frothy pina coladas there and yes....they were free at the penny slots.

sounds like you need to go to the Golden Nugget downtown or some of the old hotels. The hip new hotels don't do this. . .

Golden Nugget is a classic..... and when you want to take a break- go out to Fremont and watch the amazing light show!

Vegas is great. We are going in April . Maybe we will see you at the Nugget!!!

As someone who has become more bored with gambling each year, I find them a nice place to sit and rest while still going through the motions of gambling (I do it to kill time while I let the other people in my party blow money). They do bring you drinks. Tip an extra couple bucks to get the waitress to come around more often.

Video poker is more fun and can still be done without spending too much.

I would say quarter slots are much easier to play and understand. With pennys and nickel slot your not actually playing less becuase in order to actually win any money you have to bet quite a bit more than 1 or 5 cents. You can play up to 100 credits and more at once in order to try and win the "big prize" and before you know it your betting $5 or more a hand, which isnt a ton if money but its alot more than 1c. So my point is that they can be very missleading if you dont know what your doing, and a $20 can be gone in 4 plays. As for the drinks, I still think they are free. But tip your waitress!

i love penny slots. Sure your not gonna win ALOT, but when you bet the max, you get the better bonus screens, and i usually play just for the enjoyment of those. They will bring drinks to you, as long as you stay put. Dont machine jump. My friend won $500, she only played with a $5 bill!! So, i'd say it's worth it.

For a beginner they are good, you can learn how to play. The odds are no better on penny slots than any other, they vary from machine to machine. The pay off is not as grate but is in proportion to the amount of money wagered. Some casinos do serve better drinks at the dollar slots than at the penny slots. others you get the same drink no matter what you play.

No! Penny slots are worthless and the waitresses tend to ignore that area of the casino. Best drink service-quarter (and higher) slots and the tables. You can't finish a drink before you have new one at the tables. Especially at the Hilton. They have amazing drink service at the Hilton.

I play at the Tropicana & won 5,000.00$ It was awsome!! I love the penny slots!

Penny slots are fun! Bonus screens ... yeah! There are some that are better than others; you just have to find the one you like.

Keep in mind that even though it's a penny machine, the minimum bet (to play a bonus) is $.15-$.20 per play ... and the max can be up to $3.00. If you're going to play $3.00, you might as well play MegaBucks ... better odds! But not as fun as penny slots.

Yes, you do get free drinks ... just remember to tip so the waitress comes back!

<Raised on Promises>
You should play a denomination on a slot machine that allows you financially to play "max credits"

I love penny slots that include fun games, 21, poker, etc. You can play one penny or as many as 100, on one line to 25. And the cocktail comes around offering free drinks if you are playing and remember to tip/toke her.
