Late September or Early October. The kids are back in school, and the weather is usually pleasant. Avoid going in the summer, for sure. |

Not in late-October to mid-March, and not late-June to mid-August. Avoid bad weather, and avoid humid heat. |

April/May...glorious days, some rain.
June...somedays hot, some perfect.
July and August...can be brutally hot and city is swarming with tourists.
mid Sept, Oct, early Nov---delightful weather, less tourists...you can see foliage in and around the city.
Mid-Nov/Early January -- X-mas in NYC. The decorations, the tree in Rockefeller Center....the Macys Parade.
Jan Feb Early March. Cold weather, more indoor activities...
Pick your month..there is something to do, but I would avoid the height of summer and the dead of winter.
Have fun! |

I like the fall. It's beautiful there in the fall, and it's not so hot. Don't go in the summer. You'll melt. |

I agree... visit NY in either the spring or fall. NY gets really hot in the summer and due to all of the skyscrapers you do not get much of a breeze. Although NY is beautiful in the winter because of rockafeller center and all the christmas decorations all over the city. if you go in teh winter def. check out the windows at Macys! |

id look thru a good calendar and see what events youd most like to see and plan it around that. i mean its nyc everyday...chaotic. so see if you want to see the macys day parade, us open, yankees game, tribeca film fest, yada yada. and yeah if you want to avoid clots of tourists tying up the stairways then avoid july and if you get cold with a breeze in san diego id not come in january. |

Come in September, October or November. The weather is quite nice and the skies are usually a beautiful blue. (Many of us remember the uniquely beautiful indigo blue of the sky...a qualified "perfect" day...before 9/11 ruined many New Yorkers forever. Pls visit St. Paul's Chapel which was the sanctuary for FDNY and NYPD who were searching the rubble for our sisters and brothers. The wooden pews were marred by their gear as they dropped down to rest after long hours at the WTC site across the street.)
Fall in New York is a good time because most tourists are gone, and you won't have to queue up for tickets to the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Bldg, etc. |

September through the middle of November, the weather is usually great. |

I agree with those who say autumn is best. It can get very hot in the city in the summer. It can even be hot into early September. Late September/Early October, I agree, is best. Spring can be nice but also can have a lot of rain. There is a Columbus Day Parade to deal with in October, and of course the Metsies are gonna win the series and have a parade!!!! But even then, the rest of the city isn't affected that much. |

Late April or Early October. not too hot or cold....no major holiday parades blocking the street.....unless the Yanks or the Mets with the World Series in October. |

Well if you're planning now, then come in October. Not many tourists and still pretty nice weather. I think late September might be okay as well.
I think you can find the best deals in late January through March. It's miserable then, but there are NO tourists, so you won't have to fight any lines, and you'll probably get a lot of deals. So, you could just enjoy all of the indoor things the city has to offer, i.e. museums, Broadway, operas, concerts, shopping, and dining.
But if you want to do the whole outdoor thing like Central Park, the zoo, Statue of Liberty, etc. then come when it's not so cold. |
