Buses and trains should get you there. Check Amtrak

mikesdaman71
take the greyhound bus.

RDG78
There's the Greyhound bus (www.greyhound.com), and Amtrak trains (www.amtrak.com). The bus will serve more locations in Missouri than the train will. Both methods will likely take at least two days in each direction, so they wouldn't be a good choice for a weekend fling with that kind of distance involved.

yes greyhound

Fall Beauty
You can easily get to St Louis or Kansas City airports from Newark or Philadelphia for like $200 round trip. You just have to know what airlines and where to look.

Train or bus, but the trip is pretty long. Weekends would be right out as you'd spend that much time traveling. Greyhound Bus is about 20+ hours from Newark to St. Louis, but only $70-ish if you buy 2 weeks ahead. For a train, you would need to go to Washington DC first, then Chicago, then Missouri. More than 24 hours.
