Carrollton, Texas. It's not even an opinion, Forbes rated that city the best place to live in Texas.

Depending what your personal definition of BEST is it varies. However i live in the Austin area and think its great! There is plenty to do and the size is not to big not to small and its just great!

Obviously, that depends on what "best" means to you. Good schools, climate, low crime, lots of entertainment and cultural things to do, price of housing, availability of jobs, or what?

I spent many years in Texas, and were I to move back, I'd probably settle in the Austin area. Somewhere between Georgetown to the north and San Marcos to the south.

But Ft. Worth is nice. If you want a smaller place, try Abilene. West Texas is nice, but it's rather remote. For example, did you know that if you get busted in Terlingua, they have to take you all the way to Lajitas to lock you up?

I'm gonna have to say Dallas. That's where I am now and there are plenty of jobs in the metroplex, the housing is beautiful, but the area is big and everything is spread out so get a car. But the best thing if you don't have a car is Dallas Area Rapid Transit or DART. The light rail and bus system is awesome.

MESQUITE, TX of course. Kinda partial. It is the home of the famous Mesquite Rodeo and BBQ that you would die for!!!!

Start by defining "best". What does that mean to you? Biggest? Nearest the sea? Most friendly? Most parks?

As you get smaller, you get more neighborhood friendly, but less things like art galleries and the like.

As you get bigger you have more to do, but also more traffic and congestion.
