SF definitely. The plusses are the restaurants, the neighborhoods, the natural beauty of the city (hills, bay/ocean), it's full of surprises.... the negatives are it's unbelievably expensive and usually gets little sunshine. Also the nut city council, but I'll leave politics out.
LA does have better weather and beaches, I'll give them that, plus Tommy's. But it's also a bit expensive (not as bad as SF) and kind of a generic place with strip malls galore. I don't hate LA as many in SF do, but I definitely prefer living up here. |

both are tempting, but the air pollution around LA bothers me more.
if you can live around SF (but outside) the air is very nice. |

la because the weather is great and there's a ton to see and do. also the shopping, food, and beaches are the best the west coast offers. plus if you're young, the night life is incredible. |

San Francisco has less people, less violence, less smog, 100 times better public transit, better restaurants and cafes. SF |
