I'm sixteen and I would like to go live with my half sister and her family in Maine. she's married with children and is in her mid-thirties, I've already spent around six months there all in all and have made allot of good friends.
I have been accepted at the local high school and all that needs to be taken care of now is the tuition fee of 10600 dollars or ideally guardianship.
I would really appreciate fully detailed answers covering several possibilities. ( bearing in mind she is my HALF sister )

Anyone can be your guardian if the courts approve it...it doesn't have to be a family member. |

Yes- she can be your legal guadian - it's a lot easier if one or both parents allow this. Otherwise you need to contact your local Dept. of social services for more info. |

Of course she can be if your parents sign the papers. I made my older daughter the guardian of my younger daughter when they both went to Europe together. She does not have to be a relative to be a guardian |

Yes she can. She might only be your half sister but she is part of your family. So she should be able to be your Guardian, but you'll need to ask your parents or who ever looked after you if its ok. There will also be contracts that your half sister will need to sign, and your parents will have to sign them as well. But you should be able. Hope this helps. Good luck. x |

Call the Clerk of the Court in your local jurisdiction and ans her/him how you go about it. I assumed this is OK with you half sister.
