60 bucks will not get you far, but if you eat at places that have very cheap meals you can do that!
i believe if you go to millennium park and the bean that should be fun
you could go to a bar that doesn't have a cover and hopefully that would be ok as long as you dont buy too many drinks!
Also i believe the art institute is free for the month of February... which may come in handy as its a very cool place to be, also it wastes some time.
If you walk everywhere that you can that will save some money, but also you can go to magnificent mile as there are plenty of shops to go to, and possibly look what is going on in the music scene... spend wisely and dont waste it all |

If you are staying at a friend's place and they help out with food, drinks, and cabs...yeah. If there's anything you want to buy just have a friend pick it up later when you have money to give them. Lot's of fun free stuff to do...if you're going out to bars you can always pick up something from a liquor store and have a few drinks before you go. A CTA day pass is $5.75 or a 3 day pass is $14 so you can get anywhere you need to pretty cheap. Hey, make it a challenge! |

Well technically yes, you could. If you are depending on your friends to buy you those things, and you could stay with them as well, then I suppose you could. It would be difficult though. |

Okay Chicago is not THAT expensive - yes, a lot of things in the Loop are expensive, but there are still lots of things that are inexpensive or free.
Millenium Park is free.
Lincoln Park Zoo is free.
The Art Institute of Chicago is free on some days...you'll have to look it up.
If you venture out of the Loop (aka downtown) into other neighborhoods, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, clubs, and shops that are reasonably priced.
You say you're going to mooch off friends for transportation, food, and drinks...so going out to bars and restaurants shouldn't be a problem. Try the Earwax in Wicker Park...it's great!
This is all assuming you're staying with a friend though...I mean the $60 doesn't include what you're paying for a place to stay? Right? If it does, then yes, you're screwed and can plan on dying of hypothermia. But if it's $60 for just fun stuff, then it won't be that bad. |

Chicago is very expensive, highest sales tax in the country at 11%. If you have a meal that's $100 your going to pay $111, probably more since there's already a luxury tax on booze and food and anything fun to do.
$60 would maybe cover 3 meals, even McDonalds is like $7 for a vaue meal. Bars beer is like $8 or more and mix drinks are like $10 or more at a nicer bar. Cabs are $5 -$10 a ride around town as long as your not going all the way up to the north side. $60 wont go far. |

It would be possible. But at like the lowest conditions someone could possibly live by. Like almost as low as homeless people. Eat cheap, don't really live anywhere, and yea. Probably, but I wouldn't advise it. |
