Well, I typically tour Denver (like Six Flags), visit the Rocky Mountains, go up and see the "Overlook Hotel," etc. Perhaps go to Golden, to get some free Coors. Though that's between Rocky's and Denver.

Beyond the Rocky's, as you go to more mountains and ski areas, you can do some of the alpine slides up in the mountains. Also, it might be fun to visit Aspen and Telluride.

If y'all haven't been to Wyoming, you might also consider driving up north a little (since you're on a road trip) and cross over in to Wyoming, or if you're a little more adventurous, you're only a couple states away from Mt. Rushmore.

depends on what time of year you are going. they have the best skiing, lots of hiking trails and camping. just about any town you choose to go to has something cool to do and it all depends on what you like to do. i have lived in Colorado most of my life and love it. go to grand junction and hike the mesa. go to Colorado web sight and find what you and your family like to do

Tour the Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado - just west of the Denver metro area at the base of the mountains. After the tour you get to go to the Tasting Room. You are allowed to try one beer of each variety that they make (3 I think) for free.

Come to Boulder and shop, eat and hike!
Boulder is a very funky college town with tons of live music,
a fun walking mall and lots of great food, esp the Dushanabe Teahouse and Zanmai Sushi!

Here are my suggestions:

Cottonwood Pass drive: pick this up out of Buena Vista, which is about an hour and a half west of Colorado Springs on Hwy 24.

Independence Pass: just north of Buena Vista, Fantastic scenary ending up in Aspen.

Big Thompson Canyon: West out of Ft. Collins up to Estes Park.

Take your camera! These sights are worth the drive.

It has large hot spring pools.

There is rafting and hiking.

Boulder CO!!! its a pretty city with many historic places (like houses with widow's walk... in the middle of the desert?! cool story on that one)... good luck (websearch it befor you go ;))
