Can my family of 6 stay in a hotel room with a 5 guest occupancy?

My family would like to visit Universal Studios Florida this summer and stay in a kidsuite in one of the onsite hotels. There is a five guest limit, but my husband and I have four young children who must sleep in the room with us. Can we still bring them along? Will the hotel allow this? Any suggestions?

if they don't, I just would not tell how many people there are. I have often just not told... unless you have to walk by the front desk to get to your room, you dont' have to say. A family should be able to get one room. It is not like you are sneaking another adult in or a pet. I would call ahead though, without saying who you are and just inquire.

As someone said, room limits are due to fire codes, not to hotel policies...

The possibility exists that a 6th would be legal if it is an infant.

Odds of them making you 'get another room on the spot' would be reduced in the summer since they could be sold out and not have another room available.

The ability to get away with it would be based on how the enforcement is down there. Since Florida has no income tax for it's residents, they get a good bit of their revenue from the sales & resort taxes that come from hotel rooms, so the state might be very inclined to be big on enforcing this, with perhaps increased emphasis on the higher profile resorts rather than the various 'stop & snore' places that litter International Drive & Rt. 192.

actually you should follow the maximum occupancy the hotel sets out for the room type. it is fire code to only allow a certain amount of people in a room. you can try it but they will most likely make you pay for a 2nd room if they figure it out. you can get 2 rooms that have a connecting door that will allow you to enter into the 2nd room with out going into the hallway.
hope this helps.

When making reservations, ask if 6 can stay in one room. Usually, the hotel accommodates, for an extra fee for an additional person. Enjoy your vacation!

paganmom
I would give them a call and check. It may depend on the age of the children. Most likely they will allow it, but check before you make the reservation.

Dominicks Granny
Call the hotel and ask them - I think most hotels don't count children under a certain age.

You may need to clarify what you mean because if I understand correctly you have already stated you know that only 5 can occupy the room but you want to have it be 6. There are laws in regards to this - not so the resorts "can make a buck" seriously, just get two rooms that adjoin and keep the connecting door open or rent a room that is large enough to accomodate all of you-there are several suites in the area.

Just dont have everyone walk in at the same time they wont notice, i stood in a room for 6 people with 9 people all togther for a week and we never got caught

MAdisoN
well. the hotel will not allow it..
butt my family all goes to Florida every year.and we drive so on the way there and home we stay in hotels.. and we have put more then 6 in a room. you just don't tell the hotel you have 6 people. if you choose to, you will have to pay a extra fine! which is normally pretty expensive!
Hope that helped you out!

They might charge you an extra fee. they might make you rent a cot or something. If they are young kids, they might not even do that. Just ask. they will likely accomodate you. they certainly don't want to lose business!

Kathy H
If the sizes of the beds will accommodate your family, I wouldn't even mention to them that you are exceeding the limit. It won't be noticed.

momontheedge
they love to do that so they can charge extra for the 4th kid

I'm Geoff
Yeah they have no reason not to allow it!

Paige
lol hell ya if u want u can sneek in one of ur kids lol

You may have to pay an extra price but if the children are very young, they may not include them in the occupancy.

they want your $$$$$$
bring whomever you want.

ashley artificial
Personally, if you just check in as 5 people, and bring the little kid, they shouldn't notice. If you keep them under control they shouldn't be checking on you, so they shouldn't find out. That's the way most people do it.

If you're worried, call the hotel and just ask questions, without giving out your information. That way if they say "no" you can still "cheat" since they won't know who called.

good luck!
