Can you picnic in the parks at Disney World? |
I have noticed in pictures of EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom at Disney World that there are grassy areas. I was wondering if you could picnic on those spots? Is there any way you can bring you own food in and do something like this? |

You are allowed to bring snacks and bottled water into the park with you.
You could justify a sandwhich as snack, along with grapes, granola, gummy bears and such. You can leave your backpack in the lockers near the front gates.
Those grassy areas are not for guest use. They keep the manicured and pretty because they do not allow guests to sit on them, litter them and what not.
But if you are looking to save money, bring snacks and see if you can get some other discounts on the attractions such as the kid's eat free card and disney tickets at http://www.OrlandoFunTickets.com
I hope this helps! |

You can't eat on the grass....they frown on people climbing over the fences. They do have some outside seating areas and you are allowed to bring in food. But if you show up with coolers, and baskets they might question you. Besides who wants to drag all that around all day |

Most of the grassy spots are behind fences. They do not encourage you to bring your own food but they will not turn you away.
I have packed PB+J and have eaten those there. Of course you would not want to bring a basket with red checkered blanket....... |

No you are not supposed to bring outside food or drink into the park. You could buy food in the park and do that, but most people sit in the eating areas. |

you can take food inside the thing is having to carry it with you and when you get on the rides it can be kinda a pain but just pretend your going on a hiking trip its the same as going to disney and you can sit and eat pretty much anywhere they have tables and like benches |

No.
If you eat outside the park then that's ok. But you cannot bring food or drinks into the park. |

No you are not supposed to bring outside food or drink into the park. You are able to purchase food in the parks if you want to and then have a picnic with it but most of the time the security guards who check each bag as you walk in the gates will have you either toss the food/drink or have you bring it back to your car. |

I used to work for Disney and got in free but to save even more money I would pack sandwiches. We would eat our brought in food for lunch and eat only dinner at one of the restaurants. You can rent a locker near the front gate so you don't have to carry the stuff with you all day. ( There are rules however, like no glass.) And you can probably find a grassy knoll that you would have access to, but there are also benches just in case. (This has been a few years back so you should still call Disney to check and make sure.) |

I have never seen anyone picnic at Disney World. We have been allowed to bring in snacks and water Bottles but I have not seen any one with a lunch container, or cooler into the park. I do not know the rules, but I doubt the fact they are allowed. |

I've been there at least 8 times and have never seen a picnic area. all the grass is not to be walked on. they work hard to keep it beautiful. it wouldn't be wise to have to lug a cooler chest around any of the parks. there are so many rides it just wouldn't seem safe to carry something like that on the rides and i doubt if they would let you.
google the disneyworld site, there's a lot of info there, maybe you'll find what your looking for. eat breakfast before you go
each day, lunch can be had for a reasonable price if you don't go overboard. THEN eat supper after you leave the parks.
highway 192 has many places to eat and you can pick up all kinds of coupons for eating out. ask one of the hotel/motel desk clerks where you can pick these coupons up. i'm sure they'll be Happy to help you.
good luck and enjoy, there's a lot to see. |

Unless things have changed since the last time we were there (1990's), I don't think so. I think they may have some designated picnic areas outside the park (I know 6 Flags and other theme parks I have been to have those), but they are really not that attractive, and are mostly geared toward large groups/field trips on a tight schedule or budget.
They have probably gotten even pickier about what sort of things they will let you bring into the park (coolers, containers, etc.) since 9/11, but the real reason of course is that they want you to spend $$$ at all their over-priced little snack bars and restaurants.
There is probably something about this on the FAQ page on Disney tours website. If you can't find it, I'm sure there's a toll-free # you can call & ask.
Eating in the park is part of the fun, just bite the bullet and take extra cash for that. My (and my kids') favorite spots were the Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant--you're in this cave that the ride goes through, and the famous "character breakfasts" that go along with park package deals. |

You can bring outside food into WDW. They frown upon it but we do it everytime we go and they don't say anything. As for picnicing on the grass you can't do that. There are fences around most of the grassy areas. There are benches everywhere so you can just park there and enjoy your lunch. That's what we do. |

It has been years since my family was young and we were there. At that time, you could NOT bring food in with you. You had to pay ridiculously high prices for lousy food. At the time you could leave and come back into the parks. We "tailgated" in the parking lot. Saved a ton and ate much better food. |

yes you can...they ask you to use the picnic tables though. You can not use the grass area for picnic. |
