Chicago or NYC...Where would you live?

If u had to choose where would you live.....

NYC - Biggest City in The United States, Financial Center, Home to Broadway, Times Square, Fashion Capital, Brooklyn, Everything you need in a 300 sq mile radius

Chicago - Everything that NYC has but, less hectic, easier to afford but, just as beautiful

I live in Chicago when I'm not in school. I grew up there. Let me tell ya..it is absolutely beautiful. There's a lot to do...the city is clean, and it's just absolutely amazing. NYC is cool to visit but people are rude and it's smelly and noisy and busy. Chicago most definitely. Chicago is also just as cultured. We have many theaters with tons of shows that come from Broadway. The music culture is fantastic. It's a clean city and just...wonderful.
Also, we're right on the shores of lake Michigan. Our beaches are in the middle of a city. You look behind you while you lay on the sand and you see fricken sky scrapers. It's GORGEOUS!

*edit* Yeah...we need to get rid of our crooked politicians. I will agree with that. And as for the weather...it's the winter that kills. But we get used to it and the snow is fun to play with and it's beautiful in the city. If you're referring to the term "windy city" it has nothing to do with the weather. The term came from the 20's when Chicago had a very heavy MOB influence. We got the nickname because the business people couldn't be trusted. The people here were "windy"...or...sketch...questionable...u... Mob like. Very interesting history

I agree with your assessment of both cities. I have lived in Chicago my whole life and while I would love to live in New York, Chicago is far more affordable. While it is true that New York has all of the cultural things that make it great, what good are they if you can't afford to go to them? As far as politics and weather are concerned you can't tell me that New York doesn't have it's fair share of crooked politicians or bad weather. Just a correction. The term "windy city" comes from long winded politicians not the mob. Should Chicago get the Olympics it will be a very different city.

Hands down Chicago.
i've been to NY and even though its a nice city, I still find Chicago absolutely gorgeous.
I think it's the fact that it's cleaner, less populated, and easier to afford and that helps especially in this economy.
I love the windy city, it's my home(:

Your appraisements of both cities are pretty much my own. I prefer Chicago because of the more friendly attitude of the people who live there.

Both cities have a diversity of ethnic groups and an airport connection to the rest of the world. Both have great restaurants, festivals, sport teams, plus cultural and entertainment attractions. One plus for Chicago...it has 4 horse racing venues...NY only one.

New York has the Atlantic but the open water can only be seen from a building or after subway ride. Chicago has a great front yard...Grant Park, Millenium Park and Lake Michigan as a backdrop.

Your 300 mile radius is interesting. It includes upstate NY which has both the Finger Lakes and mountains. Chicago can't match these.

I've lived in NYC for 9 years of my life. I love NY with my whole heart, but looking back on when I did live in NY I don't miss it as much anymore. I'd definitely want to visit Chicago. The only thing I would miss about NY is the pizza. I hate deep dish pizza, ewwww. >.<

Maggie
I was actually thinking about moving to either of those places.
